I was asked to repost this and let others see it thanks.

:? I just received a call from 913-825-1200 (caller ID) or 800-351-8820 (number he gave me) and was threatened and told that I embezzled money from his company and he needed to speak with my supervisor in order to take care of this debt. When I would not give him that information, he said that I had 1 hour to come up with 647.50 or there was going to be a serious problem. He told me that I needed to call my friends and family and borrow the money from them. I know that I owe the money to Geneva Roth Ventures, but I can not be getting these stressful calls at my work anymore.
So I have been reading on this site and know that these collection companies can not send me to jail no matter what they threaten. I would like to get a letter that I can fax them, so that they will not call me at work anymore. Any infomation on this would be greatly appreciated. Thanks

Do Not borrow from web unless you know whom you are dealing with. Paydayselect.com has been good. I believe money has been/being stolen from me by Geneva Roth, it will end now, and I cannot find out any info on 'Route66' lenders either..might as well talk to some stranger at a bar for loan, and give up your checks.......

I am now getting threatening e-mails and phone messages from a Corey Boles saying he is making a decision that is affecting me directly. Like he is going to have the police show up at my door or something. I am going through a separation, my husband closed the bank account and if had the money to get these people off of my back I would go without eating but I have 2 babies to think about. What exactly can these people do to you when you are offering to make payment arrangements and all to settle with them? They also said they don't accept money orders cause there is no address to send them to. Who are they kidding and should I be worried by their threats or what their decision may be?

Did he tell/email you that the police will show up? What amount did you borrow and what amount are they asking for now? Most PDL's don't take money orders; they suspect that you will not actually make good on that arrangement and are correct in most cases. They view it as a stall tactic on your part. Can you inquire as to whether they accept Money Gram payments or Western Union payments? That would be safe to pay them back that way if you are not comfortable providing your account information.

Go to this site www.paydayloaninfo.org and look up your state laws on payday lending. Also if they want there money bad enough they will accept money orders. They dont like to give out their address but they have one. Why should you pay those western union fees on top of everything else. Pay back the principal and what your state allows in interest. I agree with Kyside about not wanting to do a money gram or western union b/c of the fees. The western union quick collect fee in OH is $12.95. That $12.95 could be going towards another payment to the pdl and not the fee. In my opinion, it's the shady companies that don't want to give their addresses out, b/c they don't want to be found b/c they know they are not licensed to do business. If they do want their money bad enough, they will accept a money order. I've only came across two internet pdls that have not had a problem with giving out their address.

This company is a group of dirtbags making money off
of your blood and sweat. They have numerous complaints
at just about every government agency in the USA.They
need to be shut down for good. Oh by the way dirtbags
impersonating an attorney is a felony in most areas and
claims to arrest someone is an even greater problem.
It tells person you are law enforcement and let me tell you district attorneys do not look at that lightly.

Ok on to topic, they are loaning money by internet. Contact ftc and internet crime/fraud center and file complaints. Contact attorney general in their state and yours. Contact dept of banking/finance in their state and yours to file complaint. If enough people follow through on this, Goverment should respond.Ok the following url is internet fraud center. This site is monitored by the FBI.File complaints there.

If I am in the process of filing, but have not done so yet, should I tell the payday loan companies or not? Thanks.

I continue to get calls from a guy Mr. Harris or something like that. He like everyone else there has given deadlines and threatened to call my employer and and SIGN OFF on my account, what ever that means. These people really need to learn the rules. I know the AG's office has been notified as well as the FTC & BBB. They should enjoy that stack of paperwork. Oh almost forgot you can files complaints with the ACB too. Should be enough paperwork to keep their grandchildren busy...

I'm sorry to sound so abrupt, but what exactly is your point? Are you making arrangements? Have you disputed the debt? If Mr. Harris is one of several collectors to be calling on your account, it sounds like you are aware of the debt and it is time to take some sort of action on your end.

Jack--

Are you referring to in the process of filing bankruptcy? If so, go ahead and tell the lenders. They might threaten more, but once you retain your attorney, forward the calls to him/her.

What I disagree is that they do not deserve a dime until they are in compliance with the law.

I agree with you 100% Cajun. These companies violate the fdcpa in so many ways

Cajun:

I'm not saying pay it. I'm saying take action rather than complain about a problem that has been lingering (several collectors have worked the account, that tells me BAW is aware that it is there). BAW also did not mention any illegal activity; unless he sent a C & D which I do not presume to know.

Do not be fooled by these loan sharks, My sister in law managed to take out 10 different loans via internet over an 18 month duration and when I found out what was going on I did a little research. It seems that in the state of Pennsylvania any form of payday lending is prohibited by LAW and has been since 1998, and there are many other states that also have this same law, CT,MA,NY,NC and many more. So the bottom line is after paying these people for quite some time and never being able to pay the debt off I simply told her to go to the bank and close her account and open up a new checking account. She explained to the bank what was going on and they immediately closed the account for her. Now come to find out these loan sharks can NOT do anything at all about it. They can NOT seek a civil suit or retain any type of judgement against her because the activity itself is ILLEGAL and therefore a judge will never grant it. These agencies threaten by many different means, they will even try to tell you that you have commited bank fraud and they are having you arrested. They are all just full of BOLOGNA, Bottom line is where ever the transaction was consimated meaning whatever state you live in when the money was deposited into your account would be the jurisdiction for which the law would apply. So anotherwords because she lived in PA and the money was deposited in her account in PA, this would be governed by PA laws. So now knowing that it is illegal in this state she simply has not paid them any more money and there is NOT a thing they can do !!!!! They will threaten to Report you to telecheck, Guess what Banks do not use telecheck, it is just one more gimmick to make you think they can own you. SO PEOPLE PLEASE RESEARCH THE STATE YOU LIVE IN AND IF THIS ACTIVITY IS ILLEGAL CLOSE YOUR ACCOUNT IMMEDIATELY AND STOP PAYING THEM!

You might also try setting up a repayment plan to pay back your loan. Lets face it, the collector would have no reason to call you if you made an attempt to repay the loan. You had no problem supplying your work information to get the loan but now that you havr received the money, spent it, closed your checking account you want to complain about the terms of the loan and the collectors attempts to recover the money. Be responsible. Know the terms of you internet loan. Be responsible, If you borrow money pay it back. Dont try to hide behind the fdcpa and doge your bills

A company just debited $230 from my checking account and I have no idea who they are. My bank said since they already took the money the only thing I can do is close the account so it doesnt happen again. First, does anyone have a phone number for Geneva Roth and second can my bank refuse to reverse the charges?

I have had phone calls from this agency alos, threating and other, they said that i took out a loan from them, for 200 bucks, but I dont remember, I never signed or consented to anything. I just checked my account balance, and am now 600 bucks in the hole, because they put a hold on my cash, and I just got paid. How they got my account information is beyond me, because the account they said they gave me the money in, was closed Long before they said they gave me the money. I need that money that was in my account to pay bills. Now I cant because they have stolen my money. What can I do. If I dont get this settled, I and my children will be homless. Any ideas???

This happened to me before. Geneva Roth is of the opinion that if you have a checking account, they think they can debit it, whether you gave them the account info or not.

If you have applied for another PDL with your current account info that is how they got it. At least that is how they got mine.

I disputed the charge with the bank and they credited my money back. GR tried it again as "returned check charge" and I once again disputed it, and my bank credited the money back.

I recommend talking to your bank about it. Dispute the charge, and they will generally credit any NSF charges for a disputed debit.

Good luck!

So I called my bank as you advised me to kscornell, and they were so helpful. Better than other banks I have used before. They started a claims process for me, and told me to wait 2 hrs to see if it would come back as a NSF charge. So tommorow I have to call my bank and find out. I have contacted the BBB and the Attorney General about this matter also, i am still waiting to hear from the Atty gen. But the BBB said that this company is rated almost a zero, meaning that they are bad Mojo. I spent 5 hours last night trying to get information about Geneva Roth, there isnt any contact info on them on the web. All I was able to find were complaints and fraud alerts. What they did was illegal, and will definantly pay for it. My agent at the bank was able to come up with a phone number, and she hopes it is them, and will be sending me a copy of our phone call and other info needed, The next step is for me to wait, and since my money is at stake here, it is a gmae I am most terrible at. I want to get a lawyer, but I need to wait and see what happens. She did advise me to close my accounts once this is over with the claims, and they will open new accounts for me at no charge, and give me free fraud alert protection. Which is wonderful, since one of the accounts Geneva Roth tried to debit but could not due to lack of funds in it was my daughters college savings. I hope that I can at least get things rolling, and have it snowball on this company, so noone else will have to go through this. This company needs to be put out of all of our misery, and to be closed so noone else can get hurt by them. BTW do you think sueing for financial ****
, and severe emotional stress help in the matter? Thanks again for the advise.

I did not authorize the loan and suddenly I got a deposit into my checking account of $300 then I got an email about payment options to repay the loan. I was so confused. I look at loan companies and see if I get approved. most companies have to have a eletronic signiture to say Yes to the loan. Technically I did not sign for a loan so they have no means to deposit money into my account now im scared since so many people have had problems.

Is this creditor allowed to take money electronically out of your account if they don't have the banking information? I had switched banks due to being -$950.00 due to this company taking out repeatedly even after they got their pay off. Now, I did not give them my new banking information due to not thinking that I owed them any money because of the last banking problem. Thought they were paid off. I didn't receive any letters in the mail or anything. How is this legal? Now my new account is -$381.00 and I have bills due. What can I do?
