Found this website CollectionIndustry.com, and it has forums, one of which you can post questions to collectors (i.e. questions about policies and procedures,etc)Might be something interesting to try, see what kind of responses we get.


Wow, I was looking on this website, and discovered that they collectors can actually GET your SS# without YOU giving it to them. There are actually companies that they go through to get these numbers, how scary is that!!!!One of the things they use is called Accurint to get SS#'s. Wow, that should be illegal!

Yes TMD, it is scary, and not just because it is a collection agency. Recently, I heard a career collector say that she'd quite a collection agency soon after being hired, because she learned that a good 75% of the staff were ex-cons, and/or had criminal records.

That's the problem. Evidently CAs don't do background checks on employees (such a high turn over I guess). CAs usually have your SS# with whatever the creditor gives them. It is by sheer laziness of the government that they've not come up with a better "universal" ID system than using SS numbers.
