Does anyone have any info about this company? They called and said they had my account from ameriloan.

Rachel

forgot to add in last post, Pinion will not validate. They wont send you a thing. I have delt with them before and they are rude. just tell them you want the information in writing and see what happens. They eventually stopped calling and it has been 5 months since I had asked for the information in writing. Havent heard a word since. Have you tried to call ameriloan to work out a payment arrangement with them?

ive dealt with "yasine" and she's been very helpful. i think since they are the original creditors they rules are a little different? am i right or way off on this. (i.e. they dont have to send validation...) if you have to work w/ them try yasine, she allowed me to pay 50 each pay period until i got it covered, and she very friendly, polite and understanding. good luck.

They are rude, will NEVER tell the truth, and even after you pay off the loan - dO NOT purrge your account data from their systems - I know. It's been 2 months since I last paid off my loan and just discovered that they came back into my account and took money - AFTER THE LOAN WAS PAID OFF - so BEWARE of these people!!!!!

Will do, I finally got confirmation from Pinion - only because I reported them to the Better Business Bureau, for stealing from my account.

Another heads up here - They took more money after the account was paid off on 4/3/06. I caught it, called them - nothing. On 4/11/06 I filed an online complaint with the BBB. I received a telephone call from Pinion on 4/12/06, then this past weekend received a letter from the BBB which included a letter from United Cash Loans sent to the BBB, but dated 3/21/06. What the H__?? It seems that they were intending to take money, had the letter drawn up and ready to go before I even notified the BBB? Watch out for these people - also watch out for Cash Today - they are both nothing but a bunch of crooks and swindlers!!!

These jerks somehow got hold of my debit card number and took a large amount of money out of my checking account! I never spoke with them, never authorized this, have no clue who they are! I've been round and round with the bank trying to get my money back. I can't even get a phone number for Pinion Mgmt. so I can argue with them!!

lybgknitter, did you authorize them to take money from your account? How did they get your account number? Ask your bank to stop all kind of debits from them in future.

Pinion Management collects money for a great number of payday loan 'companies'. I have spoken and faxed at least 6 different people. None of them have a clue of who works where or with what company. Even with proof that an account was paid off, they still haven't refunded the money they look from my account. What I had to do was cancel my check card and have a new one issued - what a PAIN. I have also let Pinion and Cash Today know that until further notice - no further withdrawals will be allowed without my permission and I have submitted an online complaint with the BBB in regards to Cash Today refusing to verify the loan (along with other complaints). I will also be filing a complaint with the FTC and my state Attorney Generals office.

It has taken me a while to figure this out, but Payday loans don't help NO MATTER what the reason. Find a good financial institution that you feel good about and can trust ??? even a credit union, get established with them. Once you've been with them a while, if you need help ??? they will be able to give you advice and more. That would be better for your pocketbook and psyche. It's also too bad that in this country companies like this are allowed to prey on people who are in tight situations and totally take advantage of them. People need to come together to get these companies closed down and out of this country.

My other advice is to keep a very close eye on your bank account. Keep copies of everything, watch the interest rate and fees charged. Do whatever you have to in order to keep track of what they have sent and what you owe, check the laws in your state as to your rights and if they step a hair over the line report them. I only wish someone would have given me this advice early last year, it would have saved me a boatload of money - $1200 so far since February. Buyer be afraid, be very afraid!!! :!:

Wow....I just found this site by accident cuz I'm being hassled by Pinion who won't send me any documentation. When they do, it's an email attachment that won't open and they say not to reply to email...I checked with ameriloan who says they turned my account to Pinion. When talking to the rude agents of Pinion, they insist that they take payments by "automatic withdrawal" from my bank account, which I do not approve. I asked them to send me an address to send payment but they say they don't work that way. I've been advised never have any collection agency take any kind of payments from your bank account 'automatically'. I did that years ago for an account with Capitol One and it turned out Capitol One never heard of the collection agency and never received the $600, that should have cleared this account. So, I"m in Calif. Does anyone know if Pinion is licensed in Calif and if they are legit. The fees I paid to AmeriLoan was way more than what I even borrowed. I keep reading what a scam AmeriLoan was so I stopped payment. Whew....it's so good to read what everyone else is going thru and how you all are there to advise one another. I'm glad I found this site by accident. It was definitely meant to be. Hope to hear from someone and thank you in advance if I do.

To find out if they're licensed in Texas, I think you need to go to the Secretary of State website or whatever it's called in Texas (I can't remember off hand). In most states you can do a name search for free but I think in Texas you have to pay a fee of like $1.00 or something per search.

I dealt with Pinion Management and they were horrible. I think they work with a lot of payday loan companies because at one time they said they called me and said I have five different accounts with them. I know ameriloan and United Cash Loans were a couple but I think they handle others as well. I paid some off but I only paid the money I owed plus reasonable fees. After that I told them basically to go pound salt. I asked for validation and they refused. They got nasty with me so I got nasty back. I told them to validate the debt and not to call me until they've done so. I sent them a cease and desist and validation letter. Finally, I warned them that if they called me again, I would be taping the phone call and would immediately give the tapes to my attorney. I told them I would sue them and they would have to pay the statutorily required $1,000 per violation plus attorneys' fees. They never called again.

I pulled out my old receipts because I had a lot of accounts with Pinion Management (and I'm a packrat and I save everything). I sent them all my payments via Western Union.

If I were you, I would simply tell them that if they would like to get paid, they will need to either accept payment via Western Union, Money Gram or money order. Tell them you do not have a checking account (even if you do) because they will want to get your new number and start debiting directly from your new account.

If they still refuse all of those payment options, I would tell them that it's their problem. Document the call and the payment refusal. If they want they're money bad enough, they'll accept. If not, don't pay and let it take its course because at that point there is nothing more than you can do.

I had places try to pressure me into giving me a new bank account number even though I lied and said I didn't have one. They kept telling me that I had to have a new account and I told them I did not. I finally told them that they needed to come up with another method of payment if they wanted any of their money back. It took some negotiating but finally they agreed. They will pressure you to no end to get you to give them a new account number but UNDER NO CIRCUMSTANCES SHOULD YOU GIVE IT TO THEM. You will be back in the same situation as you were before.

Hope that helps.

Hi Bia,

First thing - check with the Department of commerce in your area - htey can tell you if Pinion isallowed to do business in your state or what laws pertain to them. My Dept of Commerce gave me my states website that states the law and exactly how much fees they are LEGALLY allowed to charge. It was a real eye opener for me - you may be surprised to se what theyare allowed legally - it's a far cry from wht they actually collect. I'm just getting all my info together then I'll find a lawyer to go from there. Pinion is very shifty - cancel your card if you have to or put a stop payment on them. Once you do they they have to talk to you if they want any money. Best advise - don't do the Payday Loans - they are ALL crooks.

Hi Raffi,

Check with your local Department of Commerce - they should be able to answer your question or point you to the states website that should have that information. Don't be surprised to find that they aren't officially listed, but your state may have a provision that will allow them to do business as an out-of-state business. But do contact the Dept of Commerce - they can help. :-)

I could swear that when I had a checking account, they took all their money from me and now they are calling and saying that I owe them $500.00. Can someone tell me the address for these people so I can send a validation letter.

Does anyone know what this number is for? 866.363.7974. I received a message from AJ Lindstrom that I need to call as he has some questions he needs to have answered before he can send out the paperwork. I don't want to call him because I have no idea who he is or what company he is with.
Thanks

Bonnie: I did an internet and BBB search but couldn't come up with a company associated with that number. Generally, if I get a call from a number I don't recognize, I can find it through a reverse search on the internet. The only time I haven't been able to is when they are not a legitimate company. I called the number and got AJ's voicemail but I couldn't understand the company name. It was ____Group Financial, LLC. I still can't find any info on the net so I would beware.

Thank Jen.
I called the number and also got his voice mail but when I hit 1 the name of the company is PettiGroup LLC. I believe it might be another collection agency working for 1st Credit of America. I was receiving calls from them saying I owed Platinum B a payday loan from March 2005 but no one will send a me a proof of debt. If Platinum B and SJM Marketing are the same company, I have paid Ellis Crosby a year ago for the debt to SJM.
Please help with any advice you can provide me. I would like to contact Platinum B but can not locate a phone number.

Wow. This is too weird. The exact same thing happened to me. I paid Ellis Crosby $450 for Platinum B/SJM Marketing only because at the time (this was about 2 years ago) I didn't know all my rights or that Ellis Crosby was a scam. I think they sold my information because initially I was passed on to a legitimate collection company, who attempted to collect the debt, but when I sent them the papers proving I had already paid it, that is when the nightmare began. I think Ellis sold my information and I was getting calls from all kinds of companies (none of them legitimate) wanting to collect this debt. To this day, every few months or so, I get another call from some company threatening to put me in jail or something for this debt.

Generally, I tell them to send me something in writing. They usually refuse and say that they won't do that and then I tell them not to contact me by phone and that they are violating the fdcpa by threatening me and refusing to validate the debt. Then I tell them that if they call again, I will have a tape recorder rolling so that I can turn the information over to my attorney. They never call back after that.

I wouldn't bother calling these people back. I usually do call them back but only because I like to mess with them and harass them like they do to me. It's actually rather fun and theraputic!!! :)

Bonnie

Contact SJM Marketing at 1-866-722-2770. Explain them that you have already paid for the account to Ellis Crosby. You have to show some proof of the payment done in the past. SJM has written off the accounts in the past of those who were scammed by Ellis. Make sure that you have the records and prove the facts.

Hi Kristine

You can gather the information on Pinion from the licensing authority in your state or the division of financial institutions. I do believe that the CA has to be licensed in your state before attempting collections. Have you inquired about this from the AG's office?
