anyone here of these people? i got a loan from them for approx. 1200. i've so far paid them 1400. and they are saying i still owe them 1298.i am from wi. and they are operating out of sturgeon bay, wi. they also have a office in illinois. any suggestions

Is this the company?
253 N 1ST ST
STURGEON BAY, WI 54235

They are registered in WI, and WI doesn't have a rate cap on payday loans. I would call the Dept of Financial Institutions to find out what the difference is between being licensed, and being registered. Make sure they are allowed to make loans.

Wisconsin law just states that they can charge anything if both parties agree in writing. Precomputed loan law, 138.09 as seen here:

1) Universal Lenders is not a payday store; it holds a consumer installment loan license from the state of WI and is regulated as such;

2) Simple interest contracts earn daily interest on your principle balance. Hence, if you are in the habit of making late or partial payments, your account will accumulate more interest.

3) In your case, you never made your first payment, or second, or third...

4) When you tell a creditor not to contact you, it makes them mad, and that's when they sue you.
