No, Allied is violating the federal laws. Report their activities to the local AG's office as well file your complaints at the FTC and the BBB.
You must train yourself with the legal powers guided in the FDCPA. You will realize your rights and deal with them accordingly.
Calling endlessly at work or home is illegal under the federal laws. The collection calls must be placed between 8 am and 9 pm. If they want to place the calls outside this duration, they must have your consent first.
Besides, your mother or anyone else should not be called if they are in contact with you. Ask your mother to send a cease and desist letter to their mailing address. It will be violation of the federal law if they contact her further after receiving the cease and desist letter. Make sure that your mother sends it through certified mail and return receipt requested for proving the actions.
Get the debt validated from Allied for which they are collecting. They have to put the details in writing about the creditors and the principal amount along with interests accrued. Do not make any payment before you have reviewed the details properly and found it to be correct.

No, it is by far not legal to conduct business this way. Allied has never been famous for abiding by the fdcpa. Whatever your account is about, just bypass Allied and their headache and arrange something with the original creditor.

One more question, the Allied representative said that the debt in question was going to be filed that night and a lawsuit was going to be sent to me and that my bank account (which he named) was going to be frozen immediately following. This is just the representative trying to scare me, right? This the the first time I have spoken with the company and was just told to pay in full right then.
Allied wants to scare you at the most so that you send them mone
Allied wants to scare you at the most so that you send them money in panic. They profit from people in fear. Don't get scared! Throw a debt validation letter to their mailing address and make your step in the legal way. The federal laws state that the CA must not contact you further after receiving the debt validation request. If they do so, it will result violation of the federal laws and you can file charges against them. They will be penalized for each call made towards you. Keep the list of the phone calls with time and dates for records. If you have a recording device, connect it. Check the state laws first if you can record the collection calls secretly. This is important so that you don't put yourself in trouble. You can get this info from the AG's office or you can post the name of the state of your residence. I will let you know about it. Relax!
They can't do any of that "overnight" and especially not without
They can't do any of that "overnight" and especially not without a court order or judgment. Allied lies so bad, don't listen to them.

Allied keeps calling leaving a message to call a certain number, of which I am not calling. I don't know who they want or what they want as they don't leave that info. I'm even sure if this is a collection agency or not but I owe no one.
Have a look at the summary page composed on Allied Interstate. I

The company that contacted you have commited violations per the fdcpa. collection agencies are not allowed to threaten anyone at anytime. Has Allied validated the debt? If they have not validated, you need to send them a debt validation letter certified mail with return receipt. Make them prove they are legally suppose to collect the debt. You could also contact the original creditor and see if they have sold the debt where it is charged off.

I am also getting phone calls from allied interstate because my son gave them my number and he does not live here these calls are coming first thing in the morning till evening
Harassing me on my NEIGHBORS debt!
I was called at 4:40 today and was asked questions about my neighbor. I refused to answer and the rep became hostile. I hung up. He called back. I didn't answer. I called THEM and spoke with "Dennis" and told him to remove our number from their contact list. I'm waiting to see if they will honor my request.
Allied Interstate
I am also getting phone calls from them, I answered one of them and I told them that my debt management plan was collecting and paying the Capital One they were talking about. I had a conference call fir them, debt management plan and myself and this person told the debt management office they did not accept payments, anyway it was a mess that the debt plan people told me they would handled it, as of today I have not heard from them and my payments are being made to both Capital One credit cards. But I do agree they are UGLY/NASTY.
Beware of them. They talk rudely???????and wait????
Beware of them. They talk rudely???????and wait???????they talk crap as well. They will say that they are authorized by some xyz company to collect the debt. But when you ask them to give you the confirmation / transaction number to support their claims, they wont be able to give you anything. If you ask them to validate the debt, they will flatly say they don't do that. It is utterly ridiculous.
Calling Family Members
They have called my family members and threatened them that if they do not have me call them they will sue. They would call at 7am until about 10pm, calling their CELL PHONES! This company needs to be stopped. they are harassing innocent people!
LOL
Calling at 7A and 10P? I would let them know that what that will get them is not a return call from you, but a lawsuit for violations of the fdcpa. You need to find out their mailing address and send them a debt validation and Partial Cease and Desist letter. Be sure to send it certified mail return receipt requested. Be sure to specify you don't want them contacting third parties regarding you, in addition to you, your employer, and anyone else. If you need an example of this type of letter, once can me found in the "do-it-yourself" section of this website.
If they contact your family memebers again, after they sign for the letter, then sue them for violations of the FDCPA. Likewise if they call them at 7 A and 10 P.
Calling at 7am and 10pm is an fdcpa violation and multiple calls
Calling at 7am and 10pm is an fdcpa violation and multiple calls outside legal calling time is worth $1000. Take a picture of your caller ID and demand your money!!!

She has no right to speak to you like that vicson22. In fact she violated the Fair Debt Collection Practices Act in doing so. Also you cousin cannot be charged with any crime or imprisoned, which threatening to do so is also a violation of the fdcpa.
What state do you live in? I would like to check your state's statutes to see if you can legally record phone calls without the other party's knowledge. Even if your cousin does owe a debt, disclosing this information to you is also a violation.
In the mean time send them a letter instructing them not to contact you by phone anymore. Send it certified mail, return receipt requested. Here is their contact information:

Called my Boss
I used to work 3rd party collections. I scoffed when I read about people who reported agencies calling their bosses or relatives, or calling early in the morning. I just simply did not believe it.
I stand corrected. Allied has called my work numerous times in the day, even after being told repeatedly not to call. They refuse to call my home number. They have said, "I'll call you at work as much as I want until learn to pay your bills." When they threatened to call my boss, I thought it would just to be for employment verification.
Nope. Three days later, he calls me into the office, shuts the door and says, "Your creditor called me about your bill, saying you gave them permission to talk to me and that we'd pay. If they keep calling--you're fired." He also offered to document the call so I could forward the log to the FTC and attorney general.
They have ignored my DNC demands, and will call up to ten times in a day if they're in the mood. If they're unconcerned about the law so much that they'd actually call my boss, I wonder what other tricks they'd be willing to try?

mozart....if I were you I would be finding a NACA attorney...you have one hell of a case with the 3rd party disclosure to your boss.....embarrassment and worrying about loosing your job pays quite well in terms of a settlement.
If you're boss will swear out an affadavit, you definately have
If you're boss will swear out an affadavit, you definately have a case. The FTC would love to see this since they've nailed Allied on numerous occasions.
Allied Interstate threatening me and harassing my mother
I actually know a person who had a claim successfully resolved and the calls stopped and she got paid. She called 800-875-3666;
