There is a legal proof of the harassment by recording the phone calls. Make sure that you have checked the laws in your state before doing so.
When you attach a recording device, it must be clear in the recording that the collector has given the permission. If the state laws require consent of both the parties and you don't have it put in the recording, the collector can put you in the wrong side.
When I intend to record the phone calls, I have my device already attached to the phone and then notify my actions to the person so that his commitment made is there in the recording. I won't give him the time to run away if he has come to harass me.
