With so many cat people in the forum, it;s time to run a thread to post cat pics and talk about cats. They are such cute little beasts! This cat that I'm posting is my inlaw's-neighbor's cat who invites herself to my in-law's house all the time over in Denmark to eat table scraps, drink from the faucet, and lay on my husband. Here she is!

She's a calico! Also known as a "money cat". Last year when I spent Christmas with my in-laws, everyone kept trying to get her attention by going "Mis-mis-mis-mis-mis" and "Misseeee" so I concluded that the cat's name was "Missy".
My husband had a good laugh when I asked about that, he made it clear to me that "mis" is Danish for "kitty" and "mis-mis-mis-mis" is saying "here, kitty kitty kitty!"

Ari: what a beautiful cat! I love calicos - remember with 21 kittens? I may go over to her house tonight to look at them - she said she had two calicos - my co-worker wants one of the kittens so I will take my camera and take pictures and maybe posts them here!

I have a calico (and if I remember, I'll post her pic here tonight). She and her sister (who didn't quite make it into adult hood) were strays. She is a pure calico and her sister was a manx diluted calico. They have QUITE the personalities and she has been with me through thick and thin. I've heard you can't pair a calico with another calico unless they are from the same litter - otherwise you might have some clash in personalities.

Taney is what I would call a "panda cat". So cute. Our neighbors back up north had a panda cat who when she wanted to be let in she would sit at the door and do these double meows! (meow-ow) I would call her the Meow-ow Kitty and the Panda Cat and my husband would always make fun of me for it. He'd mimick me saying "Look! It's my friend the Meow-ow kitty! It's so cute!" One time when he was getting ready for work and I was still in bed, he'd draw the shades, and inform me that "There's a panda cat outside for you!"

Aaaaawwww! That's cute!
My two friends have eleven cats in their house, six adults and five kittens born to two of the adults. The first time I visited, they put all the cats into three large carriers, almost like bedrooms for the cats, to keep them from climbing the humans like jungle-gyms during dinner. They stayed in those carriers during the movie, until we heard a ruccus in one of tha carriers! My friend JT opened the carrier, let the female out, and then took the male and gave him a firm whap on the butt for trying to hump the female! It was the most hilarious thing I saw! He then casually informed me that sometimes they spank the cats when they misbehave! I never got tired of talking about it! My husband and my mom thought it was so funny!

oh2benc2 - You might not have to keep them seperated for quite so long. Some tips include putting one in the bathroom (preferably the new one) and letting the old one get used to the new smell that way. They might hiss and growl under the door - but it would be over faster than waiting 2 weeks.

Well, I enjoyed looking at everyone's cat pictures, but unfortunately I can only look at cats, I am highly allergic to 'em. Would you believe I didn't have this allergy until I was an adult?

..KarenI don't have any way to get you a pic  ,but we have two cats. Actually we don't have any-but-a calico cat that was pretty wild showed up one day with two kittens. Of course I couldn' let them starve  ,so we fed them and they became tame after a while. The momma took off one day when they were about 3 months old,and the babies stayed. One is a tabby kind named sweetie-pie,and the other is white with gray markings named Stinky because she is so onery!! My son who is on disability has fallen in love with them so we have kept them, which turned out to be a blessing since I had to put my dog,Ethel,to sleep after 13 years. Poor Stinky isn't feeling good though. She just lays around and every now and then has a little cough. She did finally start eating,so hopefully she'e feeling better :)

he's a tuxedo cat, yeah...and he loves the water too! He drinks water from the sink, and then sits in there to let the water drip all over him...he's silly. I am living in Austin now and he's back home with my mom (only 3 hours away) because the bet deposit at my apt. is $500!!! So, I have to live without him, but I get to see him about once a month, and I cry everytime I leave home to come back to Austin...i miss him so much! But, my hamster is here with me...the apt. doesn't know about him

What a bummer!!! I went through that before too...I brought him anyway, because the apartment manager said that if she SEES the pet, she has to charge the money...I just made sure my pet wasn't SEEN! :)

I was allergic till I got one, then another then another, but any how once we got the first cat the allergy went away almost instantly.

I actually love cats but when I am around them I am so miserable my eyes swell and sneeze and itch. I don't think I could even begin to try and put up with that. We can't have one anyway in our apartment.

I don't have any pictures of my own cat, Velcro. She's solid white and was feral when I took her in. One day in mid-January four years ago, I heard a "Mew mew mew" at my sliding-glass back door. It was very cold outside, in the 20s. I went to the door and saw this tiny kitten about 6 inches long ... shaking badly. I'd just finished drying some linens and took a warm towel out of the dryer, folding it and putting it on the dining room floor - near the door. When I opened the door, the kitten just kept shaking and mewing. So, I picked it up, took it inside, and set it down on the warm towel. Then, I poured a small bowl of milk about the size of the kitten's head and put the bowl next to the towel. The kitten walked over to the bowl, "drained" it, and walked back to the towel - lying down and going to sleep minutes later. I went to the living room and started reading a book. About an hour later, I heard "Mew mew mew." The kitten was standing by the glass door looking out. So, I opened the door and she ran outside like a shot - disappearing around the corner of the house. The next morning, it was a "Mew mew mew" deja vu, hehe. My towel was no longer warm but I folded it up again and put it on the floor. Then I opened the door, picked up the kitten, and put it on the towel again ... and again produced a bowl of milk. She drained the bowl again and again went to sleep. I went to the living room and watched a little TV. But, about an hour later, "Mew mew mew." She was standing at the back door again, looking out again. But this time, when I opened the door, she stuck her nose outside and sniffed the air ... and scampered back to the towel. That's when I knew she was my cat (grin). I didn't name her until one day when she walked over to my living room drapes and climbed vertically UP the drapes with her claws until she finally sat at the top of the drapes "mewing away." At that moment, I thought I'd name her "Hillary" (after Sir Edmund, the guy who scaled Mt. Everest as opposed to Mrs. Clinton). But, when I tried to "peel her" off the drapes, her claws made a sound like two pieces of velcro being pulled apart ... so I named her Velcro instead. Right now, she's lying down sleeping at my feet. And she doesn't mind it if I slip my toes under her fur on cold days (grin). |
OK, that was the cutest kitty story I've ever heard :)

We got Bo from a friend of my uncle. His friend lives on a farm
We got Bo from a friend of my uncle. His friend lives on a farm about 3 miles away and they had a "barn cat" that had kittens. For some reason, the mom cat was attacking the kittens, and had killed all of them but one, so my uncle's friend asked if he would take the last kitten. My uncle will pretend he doesn't like animals, but he really does..lol So he brought Bo home. He was about 1-2 weeks old, very tiny and very skinny. We had to feed him with a baby bottle and cat formula. The vet didn't think he would live though. But my grandma and I took turns feeding him. It was like taking care of a baby--We had to get up every couple hours and feed him during the night. Then when he got big enough we had to teach him to eat the cat food.
Now he's about 9 years old, and very spoiled. He thinks he owns the place.
Actually all three of my animals think they own the place...
I was thinking about this the other day...About how I spend all day on Thursday cleaning my house...De-furring the couch and chairs..I have to vaccum the carpet twice, because I have to empty the canister and go back over it to get all the hair...Sweeping the uncarpeted part of the house...Cleaning up kitty litter....
Ok....Me and my uncle aren't home much...I work from 10-8, and he works from 2-11....If the animals weren't here, we would rarely need to clean the house other than laundry...I spend a good 6 hours cleaning up after the animals...And didn't WE invite them to come live with us? LOL But I love them to death. They're good animals, but very messy..lol
