Hang in there! I'm praying for you. Take a step back. Things are never as bad as they seem. We all go through struggles for a reason. You'll come out of this a better person. Keep trying.

ID, I am very sorry to say, please don't take my words in other way. I want to make you see things in a better way. The problem is that you lack financial planning and this is the reason you are not able to manage your money. You are doing the same mistake of borrowing money from others to pay back the present loans. You might fall in the same situation in the future as you are now. Try to gather that much money you can pay back. Nobody will lend you unless you are able to return them back in the right time. Look around yourself for the sources of income and try to reduce the expenses to the minimum. If you can control your expenses, you will be able to do some savings for emergencies. The most important thing is that you need a second job so that you can roll over. Please don't take my words in other way. I would have taken this advice if I had been in your shoes and improve my situation. Proper management is a must!

Identity Crisis - I too hurt my family by my money woes, but the thing that hurts the most is the fact that I hurt them. I can handle things when it's happening to me, but I hurt them. My family is very supportive of me, and they showed me that their love is unconditional. Where you said you didn't want to get up some mornings, I've been there. I think that everyone has. You sound like you are in such despair. Everyone in this forum knows your pain and feelings, but you have to start climbing upward now instead of going backwards. Borrowing more money to pay back money you owe will not help. Just digs you in deeper.

Identity_crisis,
The pdls can't have you arrested, but your Grandfather could. You had to have known it was only a matter of time before he found out.. It's time for you to sit him down and have a talk with him. You NEED to level with him and tell him the entire truth. He will be very angry, but he may help you more than you expect. Plus, you will feel a lot better and be able to handle things a lot easier if you have this out.
You CAN work this out. I wish you the best, let us know what happens.

This is great advice they have given you. You need to level with your grandfather and whoever else can help you. Don't let the pdl's make idle threats to you and don't be scared of them. Stand up for yourself. Take a deep breathe and take care of yourself!

Next time a PDL says they will have you or your grandfather arrested, just say, "Yeah, ok. I've been thinking about taking a vacation...Does the jail have an indoor pool?" THEY CAN NOT ARREST YOU! Period.
Talk to your grandfather...I bet he'll surprise you. And PAY HIM BACK...Set up payments with him..He'll be easier to work with than the PDLs, or taking another loan right? And the best thing about it, is you'll be getting out of the mess...
And as has been said, a second job may help you out...Every little bit helps. You don't have to do it for long, just enough to get ahead...And the busier you are, the less money you can spend, right? :)

I am totally confused. Cannot help because you need to elaborate further. You are annonymous here so feel free to post more information ( leaving peoples names off )
Who is this 6,000 owed to? A person? A gangster? Someone who you believe will do you bodily harm if you don't pay?
How much do you owe in PDL's?
One word of advice - be honest. Lying to your family is the worst thing you can do. I am sure your Grandfather loves you more than money but if he can's trust or believe you then that can do the most harm.

MR. Collector There are currently over 50 items on my credit
MR. Collector
There are currently over 50 items on my credit report that are in collections that do not belong to me. Experian started it all. I was able to get them to remove it. However now TU and EQU are reporting all of this crap. My credit report states that I have been evicted from a apartment that I have never lived at, a student loan for a school that I have never went to, and a car repossessed that I have never even seen. Get the point, because I could go on and on. my credit report has somehow been merged with a woman who uses my name, her own, and one other last name. There are addresses on my report that I have never lived at, I have aliases, about 9 different soc numbers. And this chic doesn't seem to like the word no because my credit gets pulled constantly and my score has dropped over 150 points in the last year. I receive mail daily for her, even though I have called these CA's and kindly explained to them that they have the wrong girl. I got served a couple of weeks ago for one of this chic's bills.
My point....mistakes happen.
I had to change my phone number because I was getting at lest 50 calls a day from CA's. I need to hire an attorney to fix this and I cannot afford one. I can't finance a pot to piss in right now, and I am not a happy camper. I worked hard to build my credit up so I could buy my home. Now I will have to wait for this mess to clear up to refi.
If you have any suggestions on what can improve my situation I would greatly appreciate it.
You see I think you probably have a lot of positive things to give our community if you would stop judging people. (I am in no way condoning stealing from loved one's btw, I am referring to your general negativity over the last couple of days.)

my first thought to respond to your post pollyansy was to ask if the other alies were your maiden name and a name from another marriage...if you dont know where i was going with that i was accusing you of your bad credit...however towards the end of your response i see some snsitivity and i can be of help afterall for all intent and purposes i work for the man...so i will refrain from accusing you of anything because i would like to take this time to see how i can be of some help...in your case this does happen identity theft is serious and does exist...and the sad thing is that their really is no answer or for you my friend probably no way out...but dont blame collectors think of it this way...if people told you all day they were frauded and you know damn sure that its not only because last time you talked to them they were going to pay but now that its time to shell out its become some sort of fraud...we recieve these accs from our client with all contact ad account info they have no way of knowing its fraud as you said is on your credit report tied to your social and tha adresses match...theirs soo many crooked people out their that it affects honest people like you soo dont take what i say as a personal attack...its not im giving answers from my point of view...listening to bullshit excusses and having irresponsible people hang up or ....(this one is for anthony) blast me with faxes....really not everyone is a fraud case their is the occasional case and does happen and im sorry to hear whats happen to you but really you should blame all the **** in here because if your half as intelligent as i think you are to understand that half these people need to get a grip and stop being so irresponsible if youve read half the post you should be able to see right through them

Mr Collector,
While I can appreciate where you are coming from, it really seems that the original poster was trying to make amends to her family and was honestly trying to get things taken care of. I know I really appreciate the help, support and advice I have rec'd from people on this website, with no judgement passed on how much debt I am in. For the most part we all have similar issues and experiences. I just ask that you try to be more considerate in future postings. Remember, most of us are not the people you are having to deal with on a daily basis that are rude to you. We do appreciate any positive advice you can give us that will help all of us be more responsible financially.

First of all I have never been married, and I have always been honest in using my real name (the only one I have ever had :D )and soc when applying for credit.
Thank you for your sincerity.
I am not going to lie and say that my credit was perfect before...my interest rate on my mortgage shows that it wasn't lol! I had some blemishes, but now I can no longer distinguish what is mine and what isn't on my credit as far as medical bills and such and the things that are obviously mine.
My confusion in this situation lies in when Experian fixed it, they told me that this was not identity theft, but rather a computer glitch which merged my report with this other woman. I do not see how this is possible. She clearly uses my name as well as her other names to apply for credit, but Experian told me that she is not using my soc. But my credit report has a bunch of different soc #'s on it. I was so happy when Experian removed everything, but when I found in the meantime the other two had reported everything and more, I was crushed. It is a hopeless situation.
I am so disturbed that I have to go into court and prove that this huge medical bill is not mine.
I know that there are reputable Ca's out there. Actually, the notoriously evil Asset Acceptance was very courteous on the phone in understanding my situation, although they still send mail to my house. Do you know how confusing it is to get the mail, and not know if this mail is for me or someone else? Or when a process server comes to the door and asks for me...what do I say? I am not me, but I am not the one you are looking for!
My issues are with those Ca's who are not reputable. I assume that you work for a good organization who follows the law, and certainly you recognize that those bad one's give the good guys a bad name. No one should be intimidated or threatened for not paying a bill. When I was about 20 I took an ambulance ride with no insurance. I had some health problems which kept me out of college and off mom and dad's inurance. I went back to school eventually. I had a CA call me one night at my mom and dad's trying to collect. At the time I made about 6 bucks an hour in a coffee shop, and I was in college full time. I explained this to the lady, and I told her that I could pay 20 dollars every two weeks on the bill. She told me that was not enough and that I should drop out of school and get a full time job so that I could pay my bills. I said, 'so I can make 6 bucks an hour for the rest of my life?' and then I hung up on her. I could not believe that anyone could think that a 1k ambulance bill was more important than an education. Another example, I had a student loan many many moons ago, that missed a consolidation. I didn't know it existed, thus I did not consolidate it. I found out about it on a website somewhere and it said default. I called around to everyone I could think of to find out who owned the loan. No luck. Well it turns out GC Services owned it. They had been calling me and leaving messages telling me that I had won something and I needed to call and redeem my prize, and they were doing this for months. I am not stupid so I never called the number back. One day I was actually at home when they called. I could not believe that these jokers had lied like that previously. I told them that if they would have been honest about who they were and why they were calling this loan would have been paid and or consolidated!
I do see through a lot of people here.
I help people who have taken out illegal internet payday loans and who have paid for the loan 2 or 3 times over. I understand that people signed a contract, but I also understand that they did this in a desperate and uninformed state of mind. If they had realized that they were going to end up paying $1,500.00 for a $200.00 loan, I don't think they would have. If they realized that there state has lending laws to protect them which limit interest rates and require lenders to be licensed, I think they would have sought out reputable companies.
I wholeheartedly believe that many of these internet payday lending operations are money laundering scams, and some of them could be funding terrorism. Rio Resources went so far as to have a phoney registered agent in their New Mexico corporation, and their address is a phoney address in the Canary Islands. They run from state to state incorporating and screwing people royally. These actions are far more immoral than someone signing a contract and not obliging it completely, in my mind. I ask myself everyday as I see more and more desperate people on this board, where is all of this money going and who is at the top of all of this?

Collector #1 if you are sincere in trying to help people on here then why don't you sign up and join us. We have others on here who are or were collectors and we do value the advice we are given. I, for one, have a couple of accounts in collection due to my own stupidity and circumstances and have had good experiences with the collection agencies because I communicate with them and stick to the arrangements I've previously made. So please join us if you would like to help, we welcome anyone who wants to help, that's what we're all here for.

Little collector guy is getting his feathers all ruffled isn't he?????
Seriously though, he is just doing his job while he is at work, and it sounds like he's bringing it home with him. This person gets tired of the excuses and crap he listens to all day long. I can totally understand that. I get tired of hearing people tell me lies all day long and the crap that is served to me daily. There are a lot of dishonest people in this world, but my thinking is, is we are willing to face these pdl situations head on, how can we possibly be thought of as dishonest or committing fraud?

COLLECTOR #1
Common!! Is this the tone you use in your collections? If it is, you are a living proof of the most serious fdcpa violations. If you are so rude in writing, how will you sound when some debtor hears you!! Know the fact, I was never pointing to you or your company in the first post. If you involve yourself, this makes me believe, you must be working for them. Preserve your sanity and go away from here. If you want to stay here and do some good work, use some decent language. Take out an hour from your day and do some English literature classes. Do the class for an hour and then post here. We will see if you have any chance of improvement.

Hey identity crisis...
I'm working two jobs too to make ends meet.
Have you thought about maybe working at a hotel as a desk clerk, or possibly a cashier somewhere? I work as a desk clerk a couple nights a week (second job) and it pays pretty decent for a seriously cake job.
Or maybe you could do what my friend/roommate does. She's in customer service for a furniture company and it pays almost $12/hr.
Just some suggestions on jobs that sometimes people don't think of. I know exactly how it feels to be broke after all the essentials are paid. After rent, car insurance (med insurance comes out of my paycheck), bills, groceries, gas money, and CC/PDL payment I'm lucky if I have any extra spending money.

ID-Crisis..
When I was in college, and even after for part-time work I did cleaning jobs. Office cleaning is some of the easiest, non-stressful work to do..Usually 3-4 hours a night/day and the pay is decent. And no one breathing down your neck..You just do your work and go home.
I've been thinking of doing it again part-time myself, just for the fun of it, and to save some extra money.
How about newspaper delivery? Don't know if you have a car, but
How about newspaper delivery? Don't know if you have a car, but that might bring a little cash in, and usually just in the mornings to free up some time in the afternoon for a second job.
I worked my way through school waiting tables and bartending...if you've got the personality, you can clean up! I did!
