I have received phone calls from Allied on my cell. Using a recorded message, the company is not identified. The message says to call a 1-800 number about important business. When I call back, I always make sure I use a different telephone (preferably one with an unknown number). I never give them my name or any personal information. I ask what company it is and what type of business they are in. They tell me they are allied interstate; a collection agency. They ask for the telephone number where the call was received. When I give it to them, they ask me if I am ??? (whomever they are looking for - it was Carl today). I tell them I am not, they have a wrong number, and they need to remove it from their database. What a pain this company is by just calling whatever number they can put their hands on in the hopes of getting someone they can harass.

YAY! This is nothing new with allied interstate. They mostly have disputed accounts. Make sure that you don't give out your personal info out of panic. They are in contact with the wrong person and hence, your name must be removed from their system. Send a letter to make your point stronger and documented. Read this thread and know how they have been dealing with others as well.

Allied and others like them are, in my opinion, just a bunch of criminals. Unfortunately they can get away with a lot of it. If you don't own them anything, you have to write them a cease and desist letter, by certified mail. If they keep calling, then document every call they make to any of your numbers. You'll need the day, date, time of day, who the caller is, what they had to say, etc., etc. The more information the better, but make it in some easy to read format that a judge might eventually have to read.
