Does anyone have any contact info for EPayday loans? I got a call today from a collections company threatening legal action for "fraud". I requested a copy of the charges incurred but was told they would send that after I sent payment via Western Union. I would like to contact EPayday and sort this out before I send money to the collection agency.

SJM Marketing EPayday, Platinum B are the same places. They will try to debit your account for each one. That is the reason you the total money adds up so fast.

What is the name of the collection agency collecting for this debt? They must validate the debt in writing before you send them money. Make sure that you have reviewed the account thoroughly and the charges put in it are within the permissible state laws.

United Pay Services is the agency calling, You gave me some tips earlier today and I called them back and requested a statement of charges and that is when I was told I could get that after payment was received. My bank is great, all ACH debits have been stopped and we are meeting with our bank manager Monday to track back and see where all of these loans came from. We have debits from FSM, EPayday, SJM etc and unfortunately we are in Wisconsin where there is no cap on interest. We are attempting to deal with all of the 12 PDL companies to some degree of success but this guy today was ranting and raving and threatening me with jail, it was unnerving but amusing as his supervisor sounded just like him with his voice lowered...

Be assured, no company can send you to jail even if you don't pay the debt. This is not a federal offense. The most that can happen in your case if you don't pay is that a court case will be filed. The judge will ask for payments from you in a planned way. If you are unable to make the payments, possibilities of wage garnishment appear. But since you are willing to pay what you owe, nothing wrong can happen with you. The company asking for payment needs to come with proper account details before they intend actions against you.

According to the licensed financial services list on the WI Dept of Justice website, United Pay Services is not licensed to do business in the state of WI anyway. Call your attorney generals office for advice on how to handle this. After all, that is what they get paid for.

Just got off the phone with United Pay Services. After I stated that they are not licensed in Wisconsin, and since they were unwilling to provide appropriate documentation, I was transferred three times and the last person told me to never call again. I then called the original lender and am awaiting a return call. EPayday is calling the CA and getting my account back and will work with me to make payment arrangements. Thank you to everyone that provided some direction with this matter.

Got a call from a 'lawyer' from Bass and Associates threatening me with 'theft by fraud' because I took out the PDL on my work pc, and since I stopped payment on the ach debit so they would attempt to contact me on a paydown amount, now they say it is a federal offense. They scared me tremendously,so much so that I called my Human Resources dept. and told them about it, because they were threatening to arrest me at work and take me to jail. All I have wanted is to contact EPayday and make a payment and clear up the debt. This 'lawyer' said I had until 4EST today, 7/26/06 or they would persue the case. I am trying to contact EPayday now to work with them and to find out why a lawyer would call and threaten people over the phone, especially at their place of employment. I was relieved to read all the previous replies and to know that I am not the only one dealing with this issue. Yes, I admit, I took out PDL's, but I paid them all back with no hassle. The other companies stayed in contact with me as to how much I could pay. Not with these guys. Thanks for the info.

Stay strong when you are talking with the lawyer. They can use every scary tactics to collect money from you. If they are practicing legitimate collections, these types of threats must never have been used. It is a violation of the fdcpa laws. You can report them to the State AG office as well as file complaints in the BBB and FTC. Did the lawyer send you anything in writing? They must follow the debt validation mentioned in the FDCPA

When you said Bass and Associates, it rang a bell. I knew reading few negatives about them. Keep in mind, you will never be arrested for leaving a debt unpaid. However, try to make arrangements with the loan company and work out direct payments with them. They will be pretty easier working with rather than dealing with such collection agency as explained in the posts here.

The number of JD Marketing is 866-722-2137. Don't get scared of the jail threats. The companies are using these scare tactics to make money from people. There is no section in the federal law that orders imprisonment for not paying a debt. Your one is not a government debt and this matter is completely to be dealt in the civil court, not a criminal court.

Here is a thread to read some post (and there are plenty)on this company http://www.debtconsolidationcare.com/creditors-information/about13221-4.html
I believe they are operating illegally and the Florida AG is after them for illegal collection activities, I would file a complaint against them with the FL AGs office. Also visit budhibbs.com he also has some interesting things regarding this company.

I had PDLs with Epayday, SJM Marketing and Platinum B. I faxed over letters for a refund and my account to be paid in full and never received a response. I waited another couple of weeks and still didn't hear anything. According to my state's laws I had overpaid by about $600. I know they will keep ignoring me, but I will continue to fax them all my letter until I get tired of messing with it. I really don't care if they don't give me a refund, I really just wanted them to not harrass me, and so far my tactic is working.

Hi my name is sweet cheeks i am from the state of north carolina and i recieved a call from a number (941)375-6859 and the guy name that i talked to was peter wood he said he was calling me about a payday loan that i had took out in april of 2007. He said it was two companies that filed a legal litigation against my social security number and that they can pursue the case if i didin't settle out of court. This has got me very afraid that i am going to jail. They said that to settle that i would have to pay $400 dollars on today by 12 noon and that i could a payment extension for the other 400 dollars on the 24th of august i told them that i do not have any money right now thay could i get someone to help me with that payment. If i didn't make the payment of 400 dollars by today at noon they pursue the case and i will have to pay 4000 dollars or more. I thought that when someone files something against you they have to send it in writing or something. They have gotten me very upset and scared and i don't know what to do. I am i going to jail for fraud or is this a way for this company to get my money? Please help i am scared that i am going to jasil immediately

You are not going to jail sweetcheeks, you cannot go to jail for not paying back a payday loan. They are the ones breaking the law by telling you that. What state do you live in and who is the payday loan companies names, the amount you borrowed and if you have paid anything so far.

I have had these same conversations with Bass saying the same things to me. Back in June of last year I made a settlement payment with them then In May of this year the called me and told me that I still owed them more money the account was no settled so I payed the more money. Now there is another company in the state of Georgia calling me about the same thing saying there was more the one loan and with epayday and I still owe the the $820.00. The people there are threating me with the same thing. And the funny part is they were telling me there was a collection company called i collect calling me for payments I told them I have not had any contact via phone email or mail from i collect. They gave me the dates and the amounts that I paid to Bass. They told me I have till noon today and call them with payments. They are telling me that they are attorneys as well did Bass. I am not sure what to do. I live in the state of New Jersey and I have paid a total of over $2000.00. Money I had to borrow from family to pay them because the told me I will go to jail and all. Also they would come to my place of employment to arrest me. Please give me some advice?

Scared , first of all no one is going to put you in jail. If everyone that owed money for outstanding pay day loans went to jail we would need mich bigger prisons. Secondly , I see you live in N.J. Well, these loans are not legal in your state.Do you have anything showing that you indeed have paid these bills. Ask them to validate the debt. Sometimes they get so scared because they cant that they seem to vanish.File complaints with the BBB and your states Ag office

There are laws in place to govern the actions of collection agencies.
1. The Fair Debt Collection Practices Act (fdcpa)
2. The Fair Credit Reporting Act (FCRA)

You can read more about them on www.ftc.gov

Even with these laws in place there are quite a few collection agencies that still try to take advantage of consumers, they are banking on consumers ignorance of these laws. One of the advantages we provide here is education.

Well i kept requesting documentation and finally the jerk hung up on me. Amazing isn't it. How do they live with themselves.

They are just blowing smoke up your ****. Send them a cease communications letter certified mail, return receipt requested. Retain a attorney to sue them for everything you can. If they call you after they get the letter you can sue em for 1k per phone call.

The phone number you listed is the same guy who's been calling me. He has a very thick foreign accent (with an American name), refuses to tell me what my alleged debt is or what company he's representing, called my employer (I work at a police department!!) and told them I was going to be arrested and wouldn't be into work because of my criminal activity!! He called me an idiot and hung up on me -- twice -- when I asked him who he worked for. He finally told me he was a "federal investigator" and when I asked which agency he worked for, he said the "United States Bureau of Federal Investigations"!! When I finally had my sergeant call him, he stopped calling. This is all a huge scam, and if I could find out who this thief is, I would have him prosecuted.

All of these are scare tactics. North Carolina for example made payday lending illegal several years ago. They even made it illegal to operate in state using out-of-state banks to bypass the usary laws. File complaints with the attorney general and get a mailing address or fax number for them. Then get a lawyer to send a letter to them. These loans are illegal, and for all we know, they could be funding terrorist activites with them.

Oh, and I know I am going to get the usual idiot yelling "you got the loan, you owe the money, pay it back". Loan sharking is illegal for a reason. Loan sharks who continue to operate illegally should never 1) be given any legal protection or 2) be treated with any level of respect. These are not "nice people" who just decided out of their kindness of their hearts to help people when they really need help. This is a group of highly predatory, illegally operating, money snatching, leeches. Treat them that way...

i like the post bs buster, but there is a difference between these losers and real loan sharks.if by some good fortune you can pay off a loan shark, they forget you ever existed.these bozos want you to pay forever if possible.that is why they must be stopped.
