Hello all,

As many others here are dealing with, I have been receiving multiple calls per day from allied interstate. I have not answered these calls as I do not currently have any debts that have gone to collection.

So far, I have pulled credit reports for myself and my husband and have found no items in collection and no recent inquiries from Allied Interstate or any other company that I do not recognize.

I am planning on sending a cease and desist letter to AI via certified mail/return receipt requested using the template provided on this site. However, I have a question regarding the template. In the template, it shows a reference line including a debt amount, file number etc.

Since I refuse to speak to anyone at AI, can I just leave that line off? Or should I start with a debt validation letter and go from there?

Thank you for all the great help on this forum. I now feel like I have a way out of this phone call hell.

You can edit the debt validation letter as per your specific requirements. allied interstate mostly ends up calling the wrong person. This might have been the case with you too. If they are unable to show the debt account, your name must be removed from their system. You can write a letter giving the most legal importance to it.

Cover your basis strongly while dealing with CAs like Allied Interstate. A cease and desist letter forces the collectors to stop making calls after they have received your request. Send your letter through certified mail with return receipt requested so that you are sure about them receiving it. Keep the green copy signed by them in a safe place. If they make a call after receiving your letter, the fdcpa law gets violated and you can take legal actions against them. Check this one out. You will find many others going through the same repeated problems with this company.

Thanks GnR!

The one time I *did* answer the phone (curiosity kills the cattlekid :-) ), the individual asked for someone named Virginia whom I had never heard of before. I'm not so much worried about owing them any money (because I know I don't), just the fact that the dang phone rings from morning until night, weekends included.

I'll go with the debt validation letter. I will also send two...one for me and one for my better half. Maybe I should send one for the dog too...who knows what he is up to when we are not at home.

:) Along with the debt validation letter, send the cease and desist. This will cover your move strongly. I wonder what the employees of allied interstate get paid for. They don't have to do genuine and hard work like us but to make calls and harass people. Never know, when they get someone innocent and make out easy money.
