Ok so here is the deal....I am going to write a cease and disist letter to each lender telling them to only communicate with me via the USPS. Then I am going to request a validation letter from each of them stating the EXACT amount that I owe. Then I am going to type up a payment plan for them, and in with this plan I will make small payments to each of them. My question is this, I am afriad to write them a check because I don't want them going in and taking extra money from my acount, however if I send them money orders, how will I know if they cash them? Is there some type of payment that I can send that is trackable, so I will know when they are cashed? I know I can't pay alot to them right now, but at least if I start paying they might leave me alone....Thanks for all the help.

Yes, the company has a receiver code with the post office. The number will prove that the amount has been sent by you to the company concerned.

I think you are making arrangements with the lenders and not with the collection agencies. A cease and desist communication is legally applicable on the CAs only.

Though the creditors are not bound to follow this fdcpa law, but they can honor your request. You can't put a legal stand in case they contact you further. Since you are making payment efforts, they will leave you until you default with them again.

If your original lenders can accept the payments from you, the collectors can be kept aside. The lenders will pull the file back from them. This can be done only if the account is still with the lenders and not sold to the collection agency. If you can make arrangements with the lenders directly, your credit will be viewed in a better way since it won't have the remark from the CA.
