It all started when I became single again about 6 months ago, stuck with a house payment I can't really afford alone. I have three kids and am not currently receiving any (court ordered) child support for them. I kept getting flooded with the payday loan emails and decided to try one online. It was so easy, but then I needed another one to make sure I had enough in my account to cover the fees along with other bills on payday....then another and another. I ended up with 9 payday loans in a matter of about one month in my downward spiral. After reading some stories, I found out I could stop payment on the ACH debits from these companies and try to set up payment arrangements with them. I am worried however that they will start calling me at work now and garnishing my paychecks. I really don't need my employer getting phone calls, and I don't need to get anymore bill collectors calling me while I'm at work harassing me either. I am going to talk to a bankruptcy lawyer tomorrow, in hopes that I can clear my credit card and pdl debts and still keep my house. Does anyone have any suggestions for me? It looks like I am not alone, but I sure do feel like it!

People make mistakes when the consequences of such acts are not known to them. This happens with everyone at a certain stage of life. Don't regret over what has happened in the past. Now that you are trying to take care of things, concentrate more on getting the positive results. Since you have stopped the lenders from taking money out of your account, it is important that you notify them as well. You need to explain your situation that forced you to do such thing and propose your payment plans. Assure them that you will be regular in your payments if they can do some extensions. Send some money in advance to make your proposal stronger. The lender will appreciate if you can show your responsibility in taking care of the account. You just need to give a call and put everything in order. Don't feel bad over the things happened in the past. You can related with most of here and get the possible solutions towards dealing with your situation.

The problem is that I do not have contact info for all of my payday loans, though I suppose they will be contacting me once they see I have placed stop payments on their debits.

Hi Jen,
welcome to the forums, you came to a great place!! Trust me, you're not alone in the payday loan battle.

First off, no online payday loan company is ever going to garnish your wages. It's too expensive for them to do so, and what judge is going to grant a judgement to a company breaking all kinds of laws?

There is a chance that they COULD use a wage assignment form to have the debt taken out of your paycheck. Although frequently payday loan companies like to try to scare you by calling this a garnishment, it's not..It does not go through any court, it's simply an IOU that you digitally signed with your loan paperwork, probably without doing so. Unless you're dealing with Sonic, your chances of even getting one of those is pretty slim..But if you were to get one a wage assignment revocation letter takes care of that.
As long as you keep in contact with the pdls and make payment arrangements, they have no reason to call you at home or at work. Consolidation can also be an option.
Good luck, please let us know what happens!

Hey, I just wanted to reply. Bankruptcy may not be the worst idea. The laws have changed as of October last year. I would talk to an attorney. I do know that pd loans can be included. If you have kids they have to be first priority. Keep the house and do whatever you have to. Most likely if you have defaulted on credit cards your score is low anyway. Late payments stay on a report for a while. Good Luck and you are at the right place . This forum is a lifesaver and will help you keep your sanity. KYSIDE38

core5629,
Was it a store front lender that told you to pay or go to court? If an internet lender told you that they're full of smelly stuff.
They can definitely be difficult to work with...You pay what you can. Keep at them, send them a proposal by mail with a "good faith" payment..Remember, these people make a lot of threats..And that's exactly what they are.
Have you had a counselor from the site call you yet? Talk to them about the problems you're having with the companies..They can help you in the right direction.

My loans are all through the internet, none are storefront loans. I signed up with the site and am in the process of getting together my list of creditors, but it said on the form not to list and debts under $500. Well, most of my PDL's are under $500. Is there a company that will consolidate PDL's? They are my biggest nightmare right now, though credit card companies have called me at work, the PDL's are relentless! It is so embarrassing to get these calls at work! I am in a cubicle, so everyone can hear all of my business and I really need this to stop. Anyone have any suggestions?

Hi Jen,

Well you can tell them that you are not able to recieve calls at work and that all contact must be through email or mail. That worked for a couple of mine and then I sent them the letters. They will probably try to call back but you can tell them that you are recording the conversation or you could simply hang up on them after you have told them you can not recieve phone calls. Have you overpaid on any of your internet loans? I'm sure you have. Where do you have loans at?

I have loans through NLS Payday, GFSIL, Cashnet, Oneclickcash, United Cash Loans, JD Marketing, FSM Group, Northway and Rio Resources. I have tried hanging up or putting them in voicemail, and even placing them on hold until they finally hang up, but they still keep calling and I know that since I just put stop-payments on all of these companies, the calls will only get worse!

Any idea how I can get the addresses for these 9 different companies? I got these loans all online and was directed through so many different sites for some of these, I lost track! I got the names from what they were debiting my account under, but I don't even remember all the different website addresses for these loans! I guess I can't do anything 1/2 way, I had to screw up as bad as anyone could!

I'm in the same boat as you, Jen. I have a list of the PD loan places I borrowed from my bank statement. When I tried to find NLS online, I get some obscure search page. Who are these people???
