HI Allison
Welcome to the forums. In general terms, the creditors have a strong desire to get the money back from their debtors. Moreover, they are not interested in passing over the accounts to the collection agencies as they believe that debtors have the least desire to work with the debt collectors. They also realize that debt consolidation program may be the last resort offering debt management and budgeting program.
When the consultant is negotiating with the creditors, the consumer is considered to be a better candidate in their eyes who is willing to pay off his debt and not to file for bankruptcy. Following such circumstances, they have a keen interest to cut the interest rates and other financial charges at the maximum. They also get all the painful paperwork eliminated and hence provide the best payment plan to the consumer.
Since the financial consultants have healthy relationship with most of the creditors, much of the interest is on the priorities of the consumers and ensure that their interests are protected. Please be rest assured that debt consolidation program pays all your creditors before your payment due dates and within the correct billing cycle. Each month, you will be sent a detailed account statement of all your payments made to the respective creditors. You will be able to analyze your dues left and the time required to complete the ongoing program.
After all your payments are clear with your creditors, your account will be closed and a report will be sent to the bureaus. Your accounts will be shown as "Paid as Agreed" or "Account Closed- Paid as Agreed" in your credit report. You can get a copy of it from the bureaus and hence see your improved credit score.
Your credit report is one of the most prestigious financial documents in your lifetime and every step should be taken to keep it clean. Debt consolidation program makes this improvement more effective as it has been designed for the benefit of the consumers.
Please let us know your feedback. We will be waiting to hear from you soon about your feedback.

What do you mean by dues left?
I guess I need to talk to someone. I guess I'm in a unique position, or maybe I'm not, I don't know! I've recently gone thru a divorce, and we haven't reached settlement yet. The debt is the reason my ex won't settle out of court, he's trying to get out of being liable for as much as possible. But I'm hoping I can eliminate the debt shortly after settlement, and I'm praying that I won't be liable for all of it!! Unfortunately, these things take forever, we don't go to court until December, and I can't afford my monthly expenses with all the monthly payments I'm required to make. I guess what I'm trying to say is I'm not sure if it's necessary for whatever arrangement I make to be going on for years... I'm hoping that it'll be a temporary measure until I can pay it all off.
I didn't understand the statement regarding "dues"... and I'm worried about getting suckered by a company that isn't reputable.
Hi Allison
Hi Allison
Welcome back. Over here in my post, what I meant to say by using the term 'dues' is the remaining balance in your total amount of debt with which you began the program. As you will be making a monthly payment each month in the debt consolidation program to your creditors, you will be getting a monthly statement of your payments made and you will also be able to know your remaining balance still left to finish your debt.
