Anyone dealt with either of these organizations?

CCCSATL is the Consumer credit counseling Service in Atlanta. I believe them to be a legit company because they advertise Clark Howard as being one of their board members...but, I could just be naive.

I am looking to contact one of these two locations for some help and counseling.

I was contacted by a company from this site, but i am not sure of their answer to my problem. i am not sure that settlement is the right road for me to go down.

Hi kmapro

Do you want to explain your situation a little more?

How much is the total amount of your debt? Which company contacted you from this site and what were their payment plans? Would you like to discuss more about your situation so that something better can be recommended? You can search for the companies in the BBB and get their feedback.

Hi Anthony - thanks for responding.

I have posted my situation a couple of times in other threads, but I will be glad to share it again if someone could offer some help.

My wife and I have decent/good credit scores (695-700) with no lates and no negative remarks on our credit reports what-so-ever. We are not in default with any creditor and are viewed as good customers with each.

The propblem is that some how or another, our payment schedules have gotten out of whack and we are now finding it hard to make payments because everything becomes due at one time -- especially all the big bills.

My wife's check makes the housepayment (for the most part). My check supplies the remainder of the house payment, both vehicle payments (newer vehicles), all utility bills and all other bills as well.

When we first recognized the situation, we refinanced our home and took care of a major chunk of the problems. Unfortunately, our home is no longer an option to use because it is 100% LTV but we still have debt out there that we would like to consolidate into one easy to remember payment.

Our home will be placed on the market in a few months and then we will be looking for land to build again.

I plan to be debt free by the time I move in my new house - credit card debt that is.

As far as what i have - most of my debt is store cards. I have 2 credit cards that I do not plan on including in the program. They both have balances, but they will be dealt with at a later time.

My biggest thing is that I just want one payment..and I do not want to hurt my credit.

The company that contacted me was Superior debt solutions. their answer was either consolidation through equity in my home (which I explained earlier to be impossible) or settlement.

I don't think settlement is the right path for me to go down at this time.

You haven't told the total amount of your debt? If it is a huge amount, consolidation will take longer timeframe to pay it off. Most consolidation companies can negotiate with the creditors to report the accounts in a fair way. If they don't report it as 'settled', your credit will not get negative and your debt will also get paid off at a short period.

I am inn a similar situation, looking for a way to get everything under control. We have about $30,000 in credit card debt. We are not late on any bills. My credit score is around 700 and my fiance's is just below that. We just bought our house, so a second mortgage is not an option right now.

We live in FLorida so debt settlement is not an option.

Any thoughts???

I deal with the consumer credit counseling Service in Wisconsin and they have been so helpful to me. Although my situation is a little bit different and I'm in a different state you may still want to give them a try. The one thing I liked about them was I was able to meet with them face to face and they are a non for profit agency.
