Hi! This is Sandy from United Christian Financial, subsidiary of USA debt management. I'll be glad to answer your questions about debt consolidation or negotiation, and explain the positives and negatives about a program, in a way you can understand. I also have previous banking experience, which I believe helps.

Hi Kenya,

debt consolidation program works with the objective to make the process of your repayments easier. It does not have any negative impact on your credit file.

There are some accounts which might be in defaults or have added with huge financial charges and the late fees. It results in a negative impression in the credit file. It further worsens when it is sent to the collections. Debt consolidation program tries to erase all the negative markings appearing in the credit report by completing all the dues in the said accounts. You will be able to see the result when your accounts will be shown as "Paid in Full" or "Paid as Agreed" in your credit report.

There are some agencies who try to report the accounts as "Settled" in your credit report. This gives an impression that you have faced some sort of financial difficulty and you were unable to pay the original amount. The consultant working in your program ensures that your accounts are reported as required so that you are able to retain your credit worthiness.

The debt consolidation program will be appearing in your credit report as long as you are into it and your credit report will be viewed more favorably than before.

Most of the people are satisfied with the use of the debt consolidation program and see the positive signs of it in their credit report. This has now become the most common method to solve the debt related problems and achieve a debt free life.

Be rest assured that your financial worthiness will start improving from the day you start using this program. It's an effort that you are taking the responsibility of clearing the past debt and this program will help you in doing it in the most convenient ways.

Roxette

Kenya, if you are willing to pay your debt, then why will any company take any legal action against you. You can convince the collection agency that you are willing to pay the debt and you insist for a payment arrangement.

No collection agency can recover the money if they even take the matter to the court. And after all, it involves court costs and valuable time.

Try for a suitable negotiation. I am sure it will work. Though, it might take some time but it will definitely work.

One of my loans are w/ sonic payday and they told me that they will garnish my check and make it very nasty for me. a lady by the name of ms. robensen constantly calls me at my job and makes it very unpleasant. she wont make arrangements, shes like the price will just keep going up until you pay and we will be garnishimg your check.

its rediculous to constantly try to make it like the consumer is not trying to pay, im like i wanna pay but i cant give u everything i have, i just wnat arrangements.then they throw out there, u can never borrow from us again. i dont want to ever.

Hi, I have been doing debt consolidation with United Christian Financial since September of 2005. I recently have not been able to reach my debt counsler by the name of Richard Wohlberg, and I was wondering if you will be able to help me. I have a few questions about my balance and possibly paying it off within the next few months instead of the next year. please email me back at email address removed per forum rules. Tammy

Sherita, the contact number of United Christian Financial is as follows:

(251) 929-2055
(800) 621-7806
(251) 217-6929 (FAX)

Didn't you have your contract in writing with UCF? The terms and conditions must have been clearly explained in the contract. You can review those points and talk with the counselor.

I would like to discuss in detail consolidating my credit card debt caused my the medical and personal care of my Mother and Father. Since, 1999, I have been caring for them. I can no longer handle the multiple payments and would like to know if I could consolidate under one or two payments per month. Thank you for providing me with information. I am clueless as to what to do next.

I also have been with United Christian Financial and am unable to get in contact with anyone there. There is definitely a problem because I have once again been receiving phone calls from collection agencies that have not been paid. I pay them every month on time, and one of the collection agencies has told me that they have not been paid in months. I have been with United Christian Financial since November of 2005. Please assist me by emailing me back. PLEASE!!!

My husband and I are struggling with a few credit card balances/payments of which does not make it easy to make other payments. I am curious.....we went to Green Path which is supposed to be one of the best credit counselors and they told us we didn't make enough money....DUH! And we were done. I thought credit counselors were to help you to figure how to pay and help you contact the creditors to get lower payments so you can meet your bills. I guess we had the wrong impression of Green Path. So, how do I know that someone here can help us? We tried calling our creditors ourselves this past week and got no where. It all sounds so easy when you read up on credit counselors but was no help at all to us and sent us away. We attempted to call our creditors ourselves, being you always hear that they are just so willing to work with you, well, it was a total dead end. Not one was willing to give us a temporary payment reduction or any deal. What do we do??

I can't believe what I am reading here. Debt consolidation most definitely adversly affects your credit. I too, have many years of banking experience, inluding the lending process. If someone is enrolled in debt consolidation, it is considered "third party intervention" and lenders view this as almost as negative as bankruptcy. It seems to me that it is alwasy best to be completely upfront about the impact a program has on your customers credit so that they can make an informed decision on whether or not it is something they want to do.

Also, many people do not understand the difference between debt consolidation and debt settlement. Debt consolidation reduces your interest rate and possibly late fees but, your principal debt balance is not reduced. With debt settlement your principal debt balance is reduced up to 60%. Your payments are significantly lower with debt settlement then they are with debt consolidation. Both adversly affect your credit and should only be entered into if you can not make payments as agreed, in which case your credit would have been affected anyway.
