I got in over my head with a loan from my cash now. Of course I now know better. However I had to close the checking account I had. I still owe them $820.

I have received no communication from them via mail since I defaulted. However today a person called me and said if I can't pay at least $410 by today (the total I now owe is $1708.19) then because I commited fraud they will be doing something at 3pm today (they didn't say what it was). I have an hour to call back this guy.

Please any help would be appreicated. They are not accepting any payment terms and I am not employed. Please don't tell me how stupid I was to get involved, I already know that.

When I told the guy I didn't have $410 (this would just be paid in order to get a payment agreement) the guy screamed "you better find it to pay me or find it to pay a lawyer".

I am in New Hampshire. Please help.

Hi bostonsportsfan,

First, according to fdcpa, you have all the right to ask the agency to send you some written document to valid their demand, before you pay. debt validation is your legal right.

There are certain instructions for collection agencies about how to deal with consumers. If you feel that any agency is violating those rules, you can file a complaint against them with BBB, FTC or DA's office.

BBB has already received lots of complaints against Allen Lewis & Associates, the agency who is calling you. So you will definitely get a ground to fight them.

To know more about FDCPA, you can go through the following link ???

Hope you find this information useful.

i've dealt with them, they are VERY similar if not exact in their behaviors as ellis crosby and associates. these people are not a law firm, (althought they'll say, "the number to the firm is....") they are simply a collection agency posing as a law firm. They are willing to say anything and use any tactics (however illegal they may be) to get you to send them money. I too defaulted in a loan that was for $200, and they were demanding I pay $529.00. Write them a letter request validation and a cease contact letter as well. Please do not stress out over this. I did. I let it get to me, I didn't eat, sleep or anything. Don't get scared, get educated! Let me know how it goes.

Not all the companies are the same. There are many companies in the open market who are doing normal business. We can check any company in the BBB and FTC and know if a particular company is having any consumer complaints. After analyzing properly, we should make further moves.

is this a liget co or is this a collection agency? can this company only threat you or can they take you to court and get a judgement?
