This is absolutely ludicrous! Long story short- AT&T has a monopoly over ALL telecommunications, they just lease lines out to Sprint, verizon, nextel, etc., so no matter where you go or who you deal with, AT&T is deriving a profit from it.They farm out their collections so they don't have to hear it. I've disputed a cingular bill since 2002, made hundreds of calls (TO NO AVAIL, mind you). They don't even list an address. I had to go back to the original collection agency (CBE) and they too had no address. This speaks volumes to me.If I don't receive some kind of satisfaction in this matter, I intend to sue At&T along with each and every collection Co. that has been involved in this matter. I have two special needs children who deserve more of my time than trying to contact a LIVE operator who can resolve this issue.

My husband is active duty military. We tried to handle this matter in a civilized manner, apparently "Palisades" doesnt conduct in such a way. We came to them wanting to settle the debt and they came at us in a threatening way; wanting to go to his command, etc. I guess its not enough that he's fighting for "they're" freedom.....word to the wise: dont go w/ AT&T.

I pulled my credit report today to make sure that nothing unexplained was out there, and much to my surprise, Palisades is out there for the third time! I made the mistake of not keeping records of payment the first time I was contacted about an AT&T account- I had them draft my checking account just so it would be taken off of my credit report. The account was supposedly sold to Palisades just before the last payment was due, so Palisades had no record of the provious payments and reserved the right to collect for the insane amount of money again. I disputed the item, but they filed a civil case in court and I was served papers to appear in court on it. I contacted their lawyer, got a settlement offer, paid it in December 2006. If you do decide to pay them just to get them off of your credit report, please be sure to keep all corresponence, and check your credit report regularly as I am afraid it appears even after you give up and pay them. Thank you for the idea of a certified letter, I am going to do just that with the lawyer's paid in full letter and the copy of the cancelled check.

I was suprised to see all of this information about this collection agency. just recently they had my bank account frozen in order to collect the funds I owe for a cell phone I had 5 years ago. The thing that bothers me is that they are trying to charge twice the amount I intially owed and has threatened to got the marshalls involved as well as trying to garnish wages from my pay check. are they allow to go to extreme mesures such as these? Should I seek legal advise?

Well my attorney sent a letter to these scum bags about 2 weeks ago and still no response from them.

My attorney did a lot of digging around and like I have said in the past. AT&T has no record of me via my Name, address, SSN#, account # and the wireless #

If my attorney does not hear from these &#%$&*, then we go to the next step.

Does anyone know of a class action lawsuit against them?

Same story here, just found these guys, never heard of them.

A few things,

did any one else work for AT&T? I know there was a disk that was lost with many social security numbers at AT&T. They sent me a letter and bought me triple advantage (credit monitoring) for one year. But that was only employees.

The only dirtbags I have talked to lately were these timeshare people out of Las Vegas, I called them because they had a snazzy commercial contest, for 2 days "You won" calls every few hours until I finally told them to shove it.

How did these people find us? Who are they and how do we stop them?

We also got a letter from Palisades Collection. Here is the deal, my husband signed for a car loan with his son...US Bank, we paid off what we were suppose to. US Bank then said to pay the interest on the money. We refused to. The collection got turned over to Palisades, I filed a complaint with the Better Business Bureau. Yesterday we got a letter from the BBB and Palisades, they closed the account and said it good will it was over with. So I guess we won. Don't be afraid to take it to the next level if you know you are right. It saved us $1340.00.

Recently i went to my bank and requested a loan in which to purchase a new car. I was turned down by my bank for which i have a significant amount of money and checked my credit report. I found that this place palisades collection has placed something on my report. When i lived in california i had my identity stolen and several different accounts opened. A couple of telephone accounts were opened with cingular using my social security number. I thought i had all this cleared up but apparently not. I have contacted palisades and explained the issue and informed them that i have a copy of the police report that i filed which contains my full address and phone number to prove that i did not open this account. The representatives after many frustrating telephone calls said i would be sent a fraud packet in the mail and should receive it within 30 days. 30 days have come and gone a long time ago and i haven't been able to contact them ever since. I am currently serving in the military in germany and i know of the time difference. Does anyone have any ideas how i can clear this mess up. I had great credit up until this and i want to get it back on track. Any advise you could give would be greatly appreciated. thank you

Like all of you, I am a victim of Palisades Collection LLC. In 2003 I was a victim of identity theft and thought I had the situation under control. NOT. I recently applied for a small loan from my bank and was turned down. Low and behold Palisades. A Verizon bill opened in 2003 to an address that I have never lived.

I immediately notified Palisades over the phone in an attempt to get the process started to get this matter under control. Although the representative on the phone was very rude and unwilling to assist in getting the situation under control I learned a few things. (1) the account was probably opened by phone as they had no way to validate the account. Meaning anything with my signature. (2) I also learned the address for which the account was opened. I have never lived at that address. Upon learning I was a victim of identity theft I filed a police report. The police report clearly states my residence at the time the account was opened. I even told this to the lady on the phone and she seemed concerned with nothing but collecting the $302.87.

Since I knew that I had the right to request validation I being rude myself told her that I am now requesting validation of the account and would mail a letter certified receipt request the next day. I also told her to cease all attempts to collect the debt until verification has been received. She told me that I have to fill out a fraud packet that they would send me in the mail. I received the fraud packet in the mail and there are a couple things that bothers me about this. The on first page the top portion says detach and return with payment. Once I notified them that the account was being disputed don????????t that mean that ALL collection activities are to be immediately ceased? All other subsequent pages of the fraud report that they sent me, at the bottom of the page it says in clear bold words DO NOT SEND AFFIDAVIT TO THE FTC OR ANY OTHER GOVERNMENT AGENCY. If this orgainzation is conducting legitimate business in a legal manner why would this statement be necessary.

My question is do I have a legitimate claim to sue these people because it is evident that they applied this information to my credit report knowing full well that there was no contract with the original company that this debt was incurred with? It also appears that this company Is trying to hide their business practices from the FTC and the government. I have had the information removed from my report but it took some long conversations with the credit bureau and some really heated conversations with Palisades. These people in view are scam artists and they need to be shut down and placed under the jail.

Sincerely

Swill692000

I just recieved a letter from Palisades yesturday regarding a debt that I paid off last year. Last year they offered me a 50% off deal, so I paid them. Now I'm getting the same offer again! I can't remember if I paid them with a check or if I called them and paid via debit, but I'm going to call my bank and have my statements sent to me. Also, the phone number and address that I have on this letter is different from the information on this forum. This is what I have:

Palisades Collection, LLC
PO Box 24133
Newark, NJ 07101-4133
800-414-8319

This is the information directly from my collections letter, if anyone needs it.

In other words, the agency did not want a settlement!
First, is there a formal "Dept Validation Letter formate"? Second, what does CRA stand for??
You'll find a boilerplate debt validation [DV] letter in the do-it-yourself section of this site. The link for that section is at the top of this page, center.

CRA = Credit Reporting Agency or Consumer Reporting Agency. Also called a credit bureau [and many less-complimentary things...] The big 3 CRAs are Equifax, Experian, and TransUnion.

Palisades collection also purchased a debt from AT&T that was in my name. The company promised coverage in an area where there was none (the new area I moved to) and I returned the phones. The agent (at a costco type place) said he would let me out of the contract and gave me the paperwork. (this paperwork was later lost in a fire.) THREE years later (after the statute of limitations had run out for collection in NH, Palisades decided to try to collect- via the court system. I found this address today because I knew someone who attended court a couple of weeks ago and my name was called- on behalf of palisades- who requested an arrest warrant be issued. And it was. I never received any statement, nothing from them. I also contacted my family attorney immediately after they called and threatened me and he said "don't worry about it. It's been more than three years."
Since I missed the court date, now they have their judgement, and I either pay or apparently go to jail. Guess I should have found this site earlier. I was just looking for their address. Bunch of freakin snakes.

i pulled my credit report to find a bill be handled by palisades as well but to my surprise the bill belongs to my ex-husband in another state. They say I still have to pay it. And there current number is 1-800-873-5648. They said no use disputing it because he was my husband but the bill was after our divorce, Any suggestions?

If the bill was after your divorce, and your name is not on it, you have no liability and they are violating the Fair Debt Collection Practices Act. They have no business discussing this debt with you, they are trying to get you to pay a debt they know is not yours.

Here's what I'm going to suggest you do. Send them a cease communications letter to them (telling them not to contact you at all) send it certified mail, return receipt requested. Then file a complaint with your state attorney general's office as well as the Federal Trade Commission.

My interaction with Palisades hasn't exactly been pleasant, but to be fair, it hasn't been awful, either...Until recently. I knew that the AT&T bill was mine from those bad bad college days, and have been working to get it off my credit report. Palisades agreed to let me pay it off in two payments, over two months. I've paid one, and happened to check my credit report again and noticed that on one reporter (Transunion), it's stated that over $300 more is due than on the other two (Experian and Equifax). I called Palisades and they said that this new number is correct and that I will need to increase my payment. This rings of outright fraud to me, but am looking for any other ideas on what could have happened, and how to deal with it.

I purchased a 4 wheeler through suzuki for my boyfriend at the time who promised to make the payments- big mistake. When we broke up he took the 4 wheeler back to suzuki and said he didn't want it anymore. It was purchased with a suzuki credit card and the debt has been turned to palisades who has put on my credit report that I owe the full $5000 for it. Is there a way to get this resolved and show that the atv was returned? Or will I have to settle with this collection agency? I don't think it's fair that Suzuki gets their 4 wheeler back and I still have to pay them for the full cost of the thing.

I am writing on my fiances behalf. He had a collection with Palisades on his credit report from a very old AT&T bill. Last year, the collection was removed from his credit report because seven years had passed. Now, a year later, the collection has shown back up on his credit report.

We were both under the impression that after seven years "bad" credit was removed from your credit report and could not be placed on your report again.
Were we wrong? Also, can we dispute this? We are planning on buying a new house in the not too distant future, and I can't imagine this will help us any.

Thanks for any advice you can give.

I had checked my credit report about 6months ago and had seen palisades collection for an AT&T account from way back 2002 saying I owed $475. Well I sent a debt validation letter an they took 5months but they sent me this big envelope with just copies of bills from about 3 months of the cell phone account. Looking it over, I have no idea how they came up with $475. The last copied bill they sent me had a balance of about $580. Is this a true debt validation? If it is, then yes I will pay. Or is it better to try an see if AT&T has it still and if I can pay directly through them?

Palisades had been calling me from 866-230-8075 every day. When I would try calling the number back, I would get an operator error message. I knew they had the wrong number because I have no reason to be called by a collection agency. After fishing around online and by phone, I was finally able to get through to someone at 800-414-8319. They told me who they were calling for (not me) so I asked them to take my name/number off their list. The man was actually rather polite, appologized and told me they would remove me right away. (Hopefully they actually do.)

I've been receiving automated voicemails from a company named Palisades every night. Actually the voicemail starts off with..."Our office hours are...Eastern Time", without ever introducing the caller's name. Then it comes in Spanish, which fortunately I could understand. The Spanish message says that it is "Palisades" and that "this is not a solicitation..."

I usually ignored it, but got curious last night and called the 800 number that registered on my cell phone, using another phone...and found out that it is "Palisades Collection" in New Jersey.

I searched in the internet and found this forum. I've taken good care of my credit and find no reason why I should be getting a call from this agency. I am in California and have not received any mail from this Palisades. And reading the above posts alarm me.

Please help...What should I do next? Thanks!
