My husband and I mulled over both credit counseling and filing Chapter 13. We were scared into Chapter 13 and paid hlf of a hefty retainer fee this weekend. Now I am not so sure that it was the right thing to do. If we decide to try ccounseling instead, can we get our deposit back from the bankruptcy attorney?

I think credit counseling is compulsory now if you go for bankruptcy. Haven't you heard anything about it from your attorney?
Do you want to consider debt consolidation to get out of your debts? Debt consolidation is a brilliant option to repay all your unsecured debts. Moreover it is not harsh to your credit. Bankruptcy damages your credit score and it stays in your report for 10 years.

It is tough to comment on if the attorney will return the money or not. You have to contact the person and inquire about it.
