Has anyone heard of AMO Recoveries in Norcross, GA? According to the BBB they have an unsatisfactory record. I received an AMO debt collection notice for $32.02 on a credit card and all the letter states is that AMO Recoveries has been informed that the account is past due, and DO YOU INTEND ON PAYING THIS DEBT? Their address is 7067 W Broward Blvd. Suite C Plantation, Florida 33317. I think a debt validation letter is in order. If anyone has heard of AMO Recoveries, please let me know.

if they are threatening you by saying they are going to garnish your wages and serve you , they better be able to do that, if not that is a violation of the FDCPA laws and its a $1000 fine per violation..so find out if they can take it that far and if they indeed have an internal law office that handles their cases..if not you can sue them for all the violations... if you told them not to call your place of employment by law they have to stop and put a block on that number, because you can lose your job.. if they are cussing you out thats a violation in itself..i work for a collection company we are top rated in service with very few complaints so i know how it all works..good luck

FDCPA violations are up to $1000 per action not violation. - ND

i have been getting calls from 800-238-1138. a little bit of online research lead me to amo recoveries.
the messages that i get ask for me, (using my true name) then ask me to press #1 on my phone if it is me. i press the #1, and then i get a message saying that no one is available to pick up my call.
i dont know what this is all about. but it is getting very annoying doing this every month or so. how can i get them to stop calling me? (without changing my phone number)

Its really too bad that the thousands of people who have good experiences with this company, helping them rid themselves of their debt, are not on here looking for a reason to vent, seek out validation or assistance.

I am one who investigated, realized i owed it, paid it and was perfectly fine with the demeanor and professionalism of the collection agent I worked with. In my opinion you just need to be proactive in taking care of your business whether you are able to pay or not.

Of course if you are unable to get a professional attitude from the agent you are working with, take note on the fact of whether they are following federal law and ask for a supervisor.

anyway....better things to do ....just wanted to get the alternate prospective out there.

so had a great experience.good for you.just an fyi,if what you posted is true.don't be suprised if another bottomfeeder comes a calling.it is never a question of owing.you should make sure you are paying the right people.in this age of scams, and id theft,it is just good sense to get details in writing before paying anyone.that's my perspective.

must be losing my touch.this has shill written all over it.a bunch of scammers who threaten don't have anyone with a good experience.been a long week sorry all.

As a professional collector, no longer third party though, you folks need to Google FDCPA. That will answer all your questions. Under federal law, they cannot call you at your place of employment if your TELL them it jeopardizes your job. It does not have to be a letter. To stop harassing you at home, it does take a leter, certified. They can then contact you only for two other reasons...to let you know collection activity is ceasing, or they are proceeding with legal action.

They cannot talk to anyone but you (or your wife) if it is a community property state.

Contact your state atty general....they will tell you all the ins and outs.

Good luck!

I recieved a letter from certain AMO Rec. stating I need to pay my balance in full. It was actually a HELOC attached to then a rental property. We had a tenant that was so unfortunate and was in financial difficulties and so she wasn't able to pay the rent for few months and when they finally leave the property, the house was vacant for more than half a year and at the same time bec of the bad economy we are in, me and my husband lost a large amount on our income and wasn't able to pay that certain bill. Now, we are in a good position to start making payment on that account but we want to make the payments to the original creditor. We tried to contact the new new bank who purchase the old bank where we owe that money and they told me that they can no longer locate the account. They were saying that the account might have been closed when they purchased the bank. Can somebody help me and tell me what I should do to make the bank reinstate my loan account. I have been hearing and reading a lot of difficulties and bad experiences dealing with debt collectors and so I prefer to re start paying my bills to the original creditors instead of the debt collectors.

I have never heard of them and now they are calling a phone number that is unlisted/unpublished and was never given to any business. I told them they need to remove this number and that it was not the number of the person they were looking for and they are still calling. I have never received and type of notice from these people for any kind of debt collection. I am getting to the point were I will take action if I have to.

My Reply -- I work for AMO. We are only allowed to hold the accounts for 6 months unless payments are being made on them. After 6 months they are pulled from the agency and placed back with the original creditor before being placed with another agency. So just wait it out and do a cease and desist letter to have them stop contacting you.

If you can't afford to pay your phone bill, student loan or home loan then don't sign on the dotted line. Once you accept and spend the money you must pay it back, this is the bottom line when you sign a contract. All people that end up in collection have ignored the companies repeated requests to pay or work out an arrangement. Sorry about the inconvient truth but if you refuse to pay your bills then don't cry about it when your decision lands you in collection.

#115, can I have your address and name so I can send you a bill thats says you owe me $2,500 for a bill you dont remember or is not yours? It wont be legit but YOU have to pay me cause I say so! Thats exactly the attitude you have, you fing scum. Thats why we come to these sites to make sure a company is legit before they are paid. Just because someone says you owe money does NOT make it legit. Most of the debt collectors out there are scam companies that are not legally licensed to collect, much less follow the laws that we have in this country. I really really want your name and address to send you a fake bill thats says you must pay me $2,500 now OR I will have you arrested and thrown on jail and you cant do shit about it cause I SAID YOU OWE ME NOW. Get lost you creep. Dont come to these boards with that attitude UNLESS your willing to pay what I said YOU OWE ME, fing moron!!

I have been receiving calls from AMO and was finally able to talk to them this morning. The guy I talked to was so rude. I told him I would not confirm my SS or my birthdate because I never do that over the phone and he said I was just getting myself in more trouble. I told him to send me a bill or letter if he feels like I owe something and he said I was trying to avoid the conversation. I have no idea who these people are. I have excellent credit. I just pulled my credit at the beginning of the year with all three agencies and I have no collections or any poor ratings. Who are these people and how do they get your information?
