What to do after CA has answered a Validation letter?
Date: Fri, 05/18/2007 - 08:47
They sent me a letter back with an account statement which is printed on their letterhead with the following
Statement Date
Prior Account Number
Prior Creditor
Name
Principal
Interest
Balance
Last Transaction Date
So now I need to know where to go from here. I have checked and if this is my debt, the SOL has run out a long time ago. So far they haven't tried to mess with my credit report.
Any suggestions?
Thank you,
Julie

Send them a letter stating that the last transaction date was in 1988 and the SOL has run out and you do not recognize this debt. Then just ignore them. If the SOL has run out they are SOL (other meaning)

This is what I changed in the above letter;
"This is to request you to CEASE and DESIST from your efforts of collecting debt payments on the above referred account. I do not recognize this debt. According to state laws, the statue of limitations has expired."
Good to go?
Make sure you send it certified return receipt and keep a copy.

Yes the SOL would have run long ago. Even if a student loan, from that date it would have fallen under that amnesty in the early 1990s.
