Checking charge off or close account?

I've searched the forums & haven't found what I'm really looking for. My bank account is about to be closed(charged off) for NSF. Is it possible to close it on my own before hand? I ask this because it would seem that it would look better on my credit report as closed by account holder rather than charged off. Or am I really out of the ball park on this one?

You may try to do that but I doubt if the bank would let you do so. They might ask you to bring the account to zero balance (i.e. pay off the negative) before allowing you to close the account.

Generally once a bank has determined to close your account, there is no way for you to close it prior to this especially if the account has been frozen.
