If you and your mom do not owe this debt, send a cease and desist letter and stop the collection agency from calling you further. They must not call you otherwise one of the fdcpa laws will be violated. You can take legal actions if they break the law. This is a template of the cease and desist letter. Send it through certified mail with return receipt requested and keep a copy documented in you file for records.
