Burgess Law Firm????

The person she is looking for is a family member but does not live with me. There's about 3k miles between us and communication is sporadic and rare.
I'm not certain how my telephone number was attained, but my biggest concern was that my daughter heard the message playback and became upset (thought it was geared to myself or my husband). Of course, I explained the situation and she calmed down.
At first I was going to call Ms Jones back and give her a few pieces of my mind, but I decided against that. I just don't want any subsequent calls or messages. How can they get away with such? I've maintained a recorded copy of the message. Fortunately, I've not had to deal with any of these agencies, so...any suggestions???
Thanks!

First, you should inform your family member about this letter since the law office is claiming legal actions against the person. You will try to protect her before things take a bad shape against her.
Second, you can send a cease and desist letter to the law office as you are nowhere related in this matter. They established contact with you since they had your number in their records. If you are not interested in receiving such calls in the future, send a cease and desist letter. Their office will have to honor your request after receiving the letter. Send your letter through certified mail with return receipt requested. Here is a template of the letter.

Re: Burgess Law Firm
This company is nothing but a collection agency who use illegal practices to threaten and coerce people. In the case of the lady above, they want her to tell them how to reach the "debtor". She should call the FTC and report the threat of impending legal action. It is against the law to threaten legal action that is not being taken. The FTC governs the Fair Debt Collection Practices in this country.

Burgess Law Firm
I thought I had paid a debt off through this law firm, but now I am getting phone calls from a new agency who says the debt was never paid! I don't know what to do.
