I have gone through my CC and found out that a debt that this company is trying to collect from me is from 1999, with no activity since. Well past the SOL , what should my next step be?

Write a dispute letter to inform the collection company that the debt is out of the SOL period. At this point, it must not be reported in your credit report also because the seven years reporting time under the FCRA laws is over. Be aware that if you make a payment, the file will come back within legal collections.
