I have a Law firm representing LVNV Funding. They have contacted me for a settlement on an old sears debt. They want to debit the monthy payment amount from my checking account.I have written the state attorney General to see if this is Legal.Has anyone done this ?
I have an alterative solution. What if they refuse this solution, can they file suit stating that I refused to pay the debt?

Most likely not a law firm. They pose as lawyers for collection agencies. I wouldnt let anybody ahold of my checking account. If they are legit they have to have an address where you can send Money Order. KYSIDE38

Like kyside said, they most likely aren't lawyers. Have you validated the debt with them yet? I have been dealing with them for almost a year now. The threats, and abuse ongoing. Keep trying to get your debt validated, if you should happen to have to go to court, then you can prove you were trying to do something about the debt. Whatever you do, do not give out bank or personal info, they can go in a clean you out. Keep us posted...Karen
