They tried the same thing with me yesterday. The company had already taken out 3 times the amount borrowed and they told me if I did niot get them $1,100 by this morning they were going to call the sheriff. It's nice to know they are full of crap and have tried this before.
Thank You to All.

This comp just left a message at my job. I too had a pdl..... I have paid on this pdl from October 2006 til present when I closed the account and open a new one. I tried to contact this company several time without prevailing. I personally will not pay them nor will I allow them to belimsh my credit for $300.00. It has costed me $1,260.00 which I have paid todate without one week of contact from this company. I have record that I have made contact with the internet company that made the referral. NO HELP!!!!! They kept taking and taking from me til I had my bank helped me.

I have just gotten a call from Ms. Williams at work. I wasn't here to recive the call. I know for a fact with this information. I will not pay them any thing no mind either. I embrassed to say that they have received over $1300.00 from me for a pdl of $300.00. My bank told me to close the account due to the fact that I was ready to pay them off and there was no contact information. I even re-track via the internet. All the number was either changed or not the branch I need to pay off my debt.

You won't get a letter clearing you, your money vanished, sorry to say. You need to know that this company is illegal and violated many laws talking to your boss. This company is also known as Bass and Associates. They are in an article in the Jacksonville-Times Union today. Here is todays article:
http://www.jacksonville.com/tu-online/stories/061107/met_176207561.shtml Please file a complaint with the Attorney General's Office of Florida right now. Do it online, and please include them sharing third party information and the illegal threats of arrest. Also, please contact the reporter who wrote the article, his name and number are at the bottom of the article.

Lol.

Yah I think they target military members with this bs. Im dealing with Asset over a bill supposedly owed to SBC from 2002. Funny thing is I never received a billing statement from SBC or any overdue notices. (I was at the residence of the supposed bill for over 1 year). The collection agency then did not post the debt on my credit report until April of 2004. Intersting thing about this aorund that Same Time AOL tried to charge me 195.00 for an internet bill. (I had my phone line killed in May of that year and canceled the renewal after the free trial). Then I had one of the attorney's at the legal office call them and the bill was dismissed.

Correct me if Im wrong but aren't both SBC and Asset in violation of Federal Law? SBC for not notifying the consumer of any bill owed, or past due notice, and Assest for taking two years since the supposed debt was owed?

I got a phone call about my troop also and they were demanding 1200.00 in 2 hours or they were turning me into the local county. My mother in law called the AG of our home state and they said that under no circumstances is any company to demand money over the phone and in that period of time! We had no idea the name of the company because they gave us 3 different names.. DIV 385 and then DIV 386 then jackson phillips !I have been dealing with 2 of the ladies there! I will be calling the AG on Monday for them. And i went to the local police and they stated that they (Jackson Phillips) needs to file a police report saying that i will not cooperate and then have it sent to the local police station and they will handle it from there! I then got the fax number to fax the police report made by the MP's ( military police) and i googled the number and it came up bass enterprises then I called her back and told her i changed my mind and i wanted the address to sent it there and then i also googled that and found a website blog with info on it that they are a scam company! I hope they get in a lot of trouble for screwing with our soldiers! They dont deserve this!

They are ridiculous. They can not threaten anybody with arrest if they do not come up with the money. That is called EXTORTION. And it is very illegal whether the consumer is a civilian or in the military. I hope you stick it to those a$$holes. I get sick and tired of hearing these horror stories. I am so happy you did not send them a dime. Unfortunately their scare tactics have worked on others who gave in to the false threats of arrest.

I know they have passed laws protecting military families from such things, and from payday loan companies. And I can guarantee you this, they are NOT law students, the only law experience they have are from being brought into a court of law and locked behind bars! Some of the employees, hell one of the owners in fact, ARE CONVICTED FELONS, the owner was court martialed or something like that about 4 years ago and then charged with having a gun, because convicted felons are NOT permitted to have guns. Stick it to these b@st@rds!

Steelers is correct, there are federal laws protecting the families of servicemen and women from having to deal with debt while they are deployed. If anyone has a spouse deployed and you are harassed by creditors or collection companies during the deployment, you must send the creditor a copy of the orders, of course, black out information not pertinent to the issue. I speak from experience, having been deployed to numerous locations for platoon size operations. You can see many of these deployments that I was on if you come to my site and click on 'Many of my own pictures'. A link on the side.

I forgot to mention, if a creditor or collection company report your debt(s) to the credit bureaus during the deployment, that is highly illegal, so direct any questions to your local JAG office regarding more in depth legal advice and action. Being a veteran, I am disgusted when servicemen and women are stressed from home while on deployments, it is un called for and needs to be addressed by the authorities. ie: criminal action against creditors and collectors.

This morning I received a call from a women referring to herself as Merideth Lawson at the time she did not give me her company. SHe went on to tell me that she received my "case" and I was in some serious trouble with the government. She said that I had borrowed government money last year and had not paid it back to the pdl company i received it from. She said this was government money and I stole it. Of course now in tears and scared to death as she threatened me to go to jail and that I had 28 minutes to somehow come up with the money as she was going to going across the street to present her client's case and put my name on the list (what list). :? After several phone calls trying to get help paying this stupid thing in 28 minutes I was unlucky (thank God). She even went as far as to say that my husband was going down with me and then she hung up on me when I started asking questions. Thats when I called back and found out the company name. I was told JPA and when I asked what that stood for I was hung up on again. I called back demanding to speak with a supervisor and she as well (Ms. Bea) said I had to come up with the money with in one hour. She was a little more helpful in trying to find out what JPA ment Jackson Phillips and Associates. What do I do and how do I go abut it? How long do I give it before I just go ahead and pay the amount they are asking for? Please Help me find the answers.

Keri they are lying to you and are violating the law by telling you that you can go to jail. You cannot go to jail for not paying a PDL loan. The money you borrowed is definitely not from the government. What state do you live in and what PDL company did you take a loan with? There is a chance that company might not even be licensed in your state and is also probably charging you too much in interest fee. Next time JPA calls back tell them to get lost until they validate the debt, then hang up on them.

It personally makes me vomit to think of a serviceman or woman literally having to dodge the bullets in Iraq and stress over whether Bass and Associates or JPA gets their payment in 10 minutes or whatever ridiculous number they're throwing out there now. These people have no shame and need to be prosecuted to the highest extent of the law.

Jackson Phillips did me the same way they are doing you, i was so stressed that i had to get depression pills. i have made several payments to them, and i only owed 310.00 more, but they wouldnt let me pay it when i told them i was seeking legal help. do you have prove that you have made payments to them? I have all records showing that i have pd them. They are charging extremely too much.
