This company has called my home and my work number for the last 4 days (Monday - Thursday) of this week. I have spoken to them 3 times: 1st on Tuesday from my home, then on Wednesdat from my home, and lastly today from my work line. I also received a letter from them in the mail on Monday.
Here's the kicker - the phone calls and the letter are not for me and they won't stop calling me!!!
When I tried to explain what was going on today from my work phone, the girl on the other end hung up on me!
The person they are looking for has the same first name as me....That's it.
Middle initial and last name are COMPLETELY different and I have never had a different name in my life.
NOR have I ever had a credit card with Fashion Bug or whoever this is....

This is unbeleivable that they can just make up infor or take a wild guess and call someone like this. They've literally tracked me down and I'm not even "wanted"!!!

I'm really angry.

You should send them a cease and desist communication letter, and point out the fact that you are not the person they are looking for. They have to stop calling you once you send them the certified cease and desist letter, I would fax it also, you can have your confirmation page as proof they received it. If they continue to harass you file a complaint and sue them.

It looks like the CA has no legitimate reason to call you. Start recording their conversation after verifying with your state laws. Keep a log of the number of calls, date and time and the name of the person spoken with. Then, consult an attorney and sue them for fdcpa violation. First, send the cease and desist letter like Steelers said. They will have to stop all communication after receiving your letter. Send it certified with return receipt requested.
