collection agencies are calling me 10 times a day? How can I stop them?

Keep a communication log...collection agencies are prohibited by law from calling excessively.

Send a letter via return receipt, stating that they are only permitted to contact you through the mail. If they do so after receiving your letter, you may be able to sue them for FDCPA violations.

You can also report violations to your attorney general, as well as the FTC.

Question:

When talking to a 3rd party collection agency (attorney office), aren't they suppose to disclose that they are debt collectors? Is it enough for then to just start convo and tell you about amount of money you owe?

Question #2- Can a collector leave message on your machine saying this call is to collect a debt? (it was an automated message)

I saw the website you referred me to, but did not see info directly related to question. I thought this forum would help. Thanks anyway.
