I got a copy of the response from Bass and Associates today..They acknowledge that they did call me on or about the date in question. The did however say basically that I WAS A LIAR! I'm quoting here. "It is untrue in every sense that anyone from our office advised me that she could OR would be arrested. "This statement is simply incorrect". It went on to say that "the business of collections can be a difficult one, in the fact that nearly every call undertaken by any collector can become heated and combative in nature. With that being said, and after careful review of all information available to me, I can not understand how it could ever become possible for what our employee said to contrued into statements of fraud or jail. This statement by Ms.XXXXX is completely outlandish! Additionally, this website that I supposively mentioned in my complaint (which I did not) (debtconsolidationcare.com) is one that consistently slanders any and all collection agencies, advises the consumer not to pay and file a complaint with the AG office for things such as merely leaving a message. Ms. XXXXX obtained 5 short term loans and promptly closed the account (which is a lie) when the loans were to be repaid. The intended term of each loan was 2 weeks. Bass and Associates has always, and will continue to uphold the integrity of our industry. We implement drastic measures to ensure compliance with applicable state/federal laws regulating the nature of our business.

Furthermore, the extent of the recourse available to our client is civil. THIS IS WHAT CRACKED ME UP. Upon receipt of every file, we mail out detailed correspondence prior to contacting every consumer. Our office in no way operated outside of the parameters stated above. I would hope that Ms. XXXXX would re-think the conversation that took place with our office before conducting any further slander toward our company. In closing, all of our calls can be recorded for training and quality purposes, as well as to protect the intersts of our company and it employees.

Regards,

David Jacobs...

Any feedback on this.....

It's SOP. When I collected, if any complaint was legitimate, the response was a full force denial. I only saw 2 collectors receive any kind of reprimand, and they were more like a slap-make that tap on the wrist. The only way a complaint will have any real effect is if the debtor (or other person on the phone) can PROVE the violation. It would be really nice if regulating agencies would take the steps necessary to create a debt with the intention of receiving collection calls. I'm sure even veteran investigators would be amazed at all the crap they'd hear on the phone.

Wow, how perfect they are. Well, at least we know they are watching the boards now. It's amazing how we all lie, isn't it? I think this is common practice for scavenger debt collectors like Bass & Associates. I know I was threatened when I got a call from one of their DBA's. Tweety, can you respond back to their complaint?

It's funny because the pdl that they were collecting on sent me a PIF letter in the mail a couple of weeks ago. Like that's going to happen but I found a better address to send correspondence too. I wrote them back demanding a refund per my state laws. It's a matter of principle with me since they sicked these yoohoos on me in late December. I had been fighting with the pdl for a year at that point.
