I have been receiving harassing phone calls from National Credit Adjustors. A couple times, the person has been Mark Huston, but in general they do not leave a name. They say I owe $500 for a payday loan from either “Borrow Cash Now” or “Instant Loan Today”. I did recently default on some payday loans, which I'm trying to settle, but not from either of these companies.

I informed them that I could not receive calls at work, but they laughed at me and said they would do whatever they wanted. Today, they got themselves transferred to my coworker and demanded to know my salary and be transferred to my supervisor. When I call back, they won’t send anything to validate this debt and won’t help me determine who the real creditor actually is. In fact, the jerk today said he “had everything he needed” to take legal action and hung up on me while I was trying to figure out if this is real. I wasn't even arguing, I simply said I needed more information to determine who he thinks I owe money to.

Okay, they’re jerks. Okay, they probably can’t really do anything legally (I hope!), but I need the calls to my work to stop! I faxed a cease and desist letter which also contests the validity of this debt and I’m sending it registered mail today. I suspect that even this will have no affect.

First question: What do I do if they ignore this letter?
Second question: Does anyone know other payday loan companies affiliated with “Borrow Cash Now” or “Instant Loan Today”??

If they don't honor your C&D request, get help of an attorney and sue them. Do you have their phone calls recorded? Their conversation will be an important proof of their illegal collection methods. Check your state laws before recording the call. Some states need permission of one party before recording. I hope they stop calling your place of work after receiving the letter and validate the account. They are legally required to follow the FDCPA. Not following the rules during collections is a violation of the federal law. You need to report them to your state AG, BBB and the FTC offices.

I had a loan with Borrow Cash Now that I defaulted on....Last Nov, A Lisa Ray called my work harassing me....I made 2 payments towards the balance...She told me that I owed 570.00 for a 300.00 loan...I had already paid close to 140.00 back on it. I made a payment in December and she said I still owed 470.00 on it. After getting some REALLY good info from this site and doing some searching myself I found out what they were doing was illegal. I filed a complaint against them I had also send them a Cease and Desist plus a validation letter- I have not heard from them as of this date....What they are doing as far as threatening you is wrong. This company I found out is NASTY. I would file complaints. You dont need to take that crap!

Thanks for the responses. I send a the Cease and Desist and validation letter and also filed a complaint with the Kansas (where they are) BBB. The BBB sent NCO a copy of the complaint today. NCO seems to make its calls once a week, so it will be a few days before I know if they complied.

I'm wondering if anyone knows other names for Borrow Cash Now and Instant Loan Today. I never took a loan from them, but maybe they have another name??
