So, I didn't do the research I should have and I am aware of that now. I'm trying to pay off my debt. One of the credit cards I have on there that was closed a couple of years ago shows LVNV Funding LLC as the Company. I contacted LVNV and they told me that they hired Allied Interstate to collect that debt. They then gave me a number to call and a reference number to give Allied. I called Allied, they had my previous address on file instead of my current, which is where I lived when the card was opened so I didn't think it was that big of a deal. I owed $1,065 on the card and they offerred me a buy out of $650 which I took. I gave them my debit card number and the charge has hit my account. The rep told me they would mail me a letter withing 30 saying that my debt had been satisfied.

Now, I get online and do research (after the fact like an idiot) and find all these negative articles about Allied Interstate. My question is, are people upset about the harrassing phone calls when they don't really owe money, or does this company actually scam people out of money. They gave me the correct card the debt was linked to along with the correct amount. So, in my case I really did owe the money.

Somebody please put my mind at ease. After that you can insult me for not researching information about the company I was giving my card to BEFORE I gave them my card number.

Thank you!

They send out collection letters with a phone number of 866-720-1468 on it for you to call. However, when you call that number it doesn't work. It doesn't even ring, it just disconnects. I find it rather strange this company can't even put a valid phone number on their letters they send out and they expect you to call them!

They are collecting from me for a GEMB account. They sent me a letter with only the last 4 numbers of the account. I know they have a shady history, and I don't trust them at all. I'm getting all kinds of strange calls for life insurance, etc., and it's a concern because, how do I know they didn't buy/find my information from somewhere and try to collect on it? They haven't answered any of my DV's, but they continue to call. My account is still owned by GEMB and they continue to call. I will only work with the original creditor.
