i got a call from pinnacle collections today and i am aware of the debt that they were asking for, and have been trying to track down where the debt had been sold to, so i made a payment plan w/ them over the phone to hopefully eliminate my poor credit eventually, but reading all of these threads i am getting super scared that i made a mistake! they lowered what i owed by a decent amount, but i need help knowing if this is legit...they went threw a company called "merchant credit guide" is this for real? did i just get scammed? i am so scared! is any of this legit? all i wanna do is pay my debt, but now i regret giving them my account info so that i can have an automatic payment plan....help

You should not have given your account information on phone. They can misuse that information later. Have you made a verbal or written agreement? If you made a verbal agreement, then you have committed another mistake. Verbal agreements are not legally binding. So, even after receiving the agreed amount, then they can allege that they have not received any money.
