Allied Interstate now has my sprint account...what to do?
Date: Mon, 01/14/2008 - 13:57
Hello all! I'm glad I found this place, I actually found it via a Google search for allied interstate. I was verifying that they actually existed, since the guy calling asked for me and did not say who he was or who he worked for until I asked him. I would like some advice on what I should do:
I had a Sprint/Nextel account, and proceeded to fall behind on my payments when I lost my job. I had other things to pay off first, so I put them on the back burner, during which time GC Services Limited Partnership took my case over. I made post-dated check payment arrangements with them last moth, but a few days ago some guy calls and stated (only after I asked him) that he was from Allied Interstate and he had a settlement for me I told him I would call back in the next day or so, during which time I would confirm that GC Services was no longer handling my account... I called GC Services and they confirmed that Sprint removed my case from their office and probably had sent it to another agency. Before I hung up, I told the guy I was willing to pay the settlement if I could, and that I would call him on Monday (today). I've since lost his number, but not to worry as I'm sure he'll call back soon enough.
I've read on here the horror stories about AI, and don't want to get scammed out of money I don't owe. At the same time, I want to eliminate this debt, and the amount should be between $450-$800 last time I checked. What is the best way to pay them so that they can't stela anymore than they are supposed to take? How can I force them to send proof of my payments?
Thanks! --Andy
Also, I have a Bank Of America account, that the same thing happened to. First BOA had it, then it went to Creditor's Interchange (whom I was making payments to, stopped for a month or two, then resumed only to find that Bank of America had reassigned my case to Mann Bracken (spelling?) Attorneys at Law. I set up apost-dated settlement with them, and got a confirmation number back. How can I protect myself here, and was it a bad idea giving them checking account info?
Thanks again! I really appreciate any help I can get!

Allied Interstate has a record of not being able to validate debts. Send them a DV letter to the office that contacted you. They are a large company with poorly trained personnel. Described as a class action suit waiting to happen.
