My hubby & I own our own business, and the past week or so, I have been getting CA's calling for some guy I don't even know. I told them there is no one here by that name, but I am sure they will call back again this week. Is this the best way to handle this? Since they are calling my business line, I am not sure of the best way to get them to stop - this guy was never even an employee, never heard of him. I have in the past had CA calls for an ex -employee (long story he was a jerk) and I just told them he no longer worked for the company. I have enough headache with my own stuff, and I got some other dude's issues? eesh

Make the CA aware of the fdcpa laws. You are not supposed to receive calls for some one else. It must be a mistake on their part and they should stop calling. If they don't stop, send a cease and desist letter. Here's a sample letter. Ask for their mailing address and send it through certified mail with return receipt requested. Let them know that you will be recording the phone calls and pursue legal actions if they don't stop.
