Has anyone evre heard of Central Portfolio Control? They called me trying o collect on a cashnet (global) loan. Anyone ever heard of them??

To deal with this kind of people in the collection business is not to deal with them at all. If you happen to talk to them, the first question you need to ask them is- do we have a contract on this debt you alledge I owe you? ninety nine point nine percent the answer is no. They will claim that your debt was assigned to them for collection but the reality of this is that they purchased this debt from the credit card companies or whomever you signed a contract to begin with. Folks these people sell this type of credits and/or loans everyday and make money on these bad loans after they have collected on the insurance - because these loans are also insured. So, for you to pay them is only making these greedy people abuse the system. If a second or third party has your debt you more than likely do not have a contract with them which means they have no right to collect from you and you are not obligated to pay them any single penny. I hope u heed this cause I would hate for u to waste your money on these greedy people.

You are completely wrong. While it is true a debtor may not have a contract with the debt collector, they are still liable for the debt. An assignee is basically when a company buys the account and all the rights that go with it, including collection of the full amount.

The have the full right to collect and to hire a lawyer and sue.

The key thing with these debt purchasers is that were it to go to court and they were asked for the signed contract, that almost always they will not be able to provide it.

I received a call from Central Portfolio Control and the animal on the other line could have improved his manners watching snakes in the wild. It was on my cel and was about a debt that is six years old. I never admitted that I was responsible for the debt but I advised him that in my state (TX) the SOL is four years and that he was wasting his time. This enraged him. It seems they can't deal well with informed individuals. I told him to continue to waste his time and to call and send as many letters as he wanted as I would put his number on a no-ring call tone and to PLEASE call from as many numbers as possible as soon as possible so I could get around to all of them quickly. This did not go over very well with him either. I asked him to send letter, daily or more often, as I would be able to shread the letters to use as an underlayment of mulch in a new rose garden I planned to install. Needless to say, this went over like a lead balloon. What I then did was to take a cell phone from a company that gives unlimited minutes for a set rate but did not require me to verify the information I gave when I took it. It has an incorrect name, etc. Now, I call Central Portfolio Control on their 800 toll free number a few dozen times a day and ask "hey bloodsuckers, how is your day going". I know it probably costs them at least 50 cents (or more) to receive each incoming call. I realize this is not a lot of money but it has to annoy them to no end to be on the receiving end of the BS they are normally dishing out. I think is everyone or many of the people who have had problems with the trash who work for this company were to make calls to them and just hang up or tie them up to waste their time they would eventually get the point..or have a stroke and go away LOL. Call them; give them a fake social security number and ask them to verify the debt, whatever but it gives a lot of pleasure to bother them. To date I have called them over 1600 times!!! It does not take much time and it is better than watching Oprah! Good luck.
