My ex-hubby recently received a letter to my address from northland group Inc. stating that they are willing to settle with him in less than full amount. Yet, creditor is listed as lvnv funding llc. Obviously, I cannot access his credit report. My ex-hubby is located in out of coutry and not willing to find out about this account.
Is there any way I can find out what account is for as I may be responsible for the half if this is something established during our marriage? As for now, this item is not listed on my report, though.

I think you should obtain a copy of your own credit report, and find out why something addressed to your ex was sent to YOUR address. I found out just in the past year that my ex's name was still listed on one of my reports as my spouse - and we've been divorced for several years. His SSN was on that report too - so I had been receiving credit card offers and such in the mail at my address but in his name. He checked HIS reports and found out that MY address was listed there. Go figure. We've never lived together at this address - ever.

If you can, find out who the original creditor was on this debt (may be listed on the letter you were sent) - if it's not something you are responsible for, send them a Cease and Desist letter telling them the responsible party for the debt is not at your address, and you are no longer legally connected to that person.
