NEED ADVISE: A-1 Collection has posted a collection account to the Credit B. in my name as a result of a medical bill dated 7/2005 to which I have never received a notice. I moved several years ago and they claim bills were sent to old address. Mail is only forwarded for 1year. At the time of the ER visit, I was insured and the billing dept submitted the bill to an old insurance company. I have been insured with my current company since 3/2004 DOS was 7/2005. I called the collection agency after seeing my credit report . Also provided them a Certificate of Coverage showing I was covered. What is disputable is me giving the hospital my new insurance information, WHICH I DID! Can I send a validation letter or is it too late? I gave the CA my new address and to date have not received a formal letter advising me that they have an account in collections. As well, this is my minor childs debt. Although I'm her mother, and responsible, I was never notified. This is messing me up real bad. Any advise?

Thanks for bumping my thread! Any help would be very much appreciated! I'm going through hell here. My credit score dropped nearly 80pts!

I just called the hospital and requested a copy of all medical files concerning the visit including where I signed off on medical information. I'll keep you all posted. P.S. Does anyone know if I can send a debt validation letter?
