I'm being sued for a credit card from 2005. I live in NC where there are no wage garnishments for credit debt, I don't work, and I don't have any assets (well I do have an old clunker worth about $500), or a bank account.

Why are they going through the trouble of suing me? Is there something that they can do to me that I'm not aware of?

its more likely that theyre not aware of your financial situation. really it depends on the client. some will sue anyone.. ANYONE! others want to make sure that the expense of suing someone is worth the possible return. which means that someone like yourself who has no attachable assets isnt likely to be sued. but again, some will sue anyone and everyone.
