Okay "Amber Snow" (heavy mid east accent) just left me a message again, telling me its my last chance to call them, that the matter involves an important legal document with my name on it, and if I don't call back someone will be here by 11 a.m. and she read off my address perfectly.... These people are from United Pay Services....Jacksonville...that city seems to be a common denominator.

I'm sorry but I'm just wondering, how legitimate are these people really? Have they ever done this kind of thing, and furthermore, can they? I've got the number, and I'm seriously fed up.

I'm in process of placing with a debt consoldiation firm to get rid of the payday loan monkey on my back....
Should I call this woman back and tell her this, or do what I have been doing since I signed up with the debt consolidation company, ignore it....

Thoughts please?

Amber Snow...what a funny name-roflmao...ok serious again.

Be advised many debt management plans do not deal with PDLs, as the PDL companies will refuse to work with anyone.

Who you've borrowed from (the PDLs)
How much you've borrowed
How much you've repaid
What state you are in

If you provide these details, we can be of much more assistance to you.

Sounds VERY much like you could have a case against them. Try looking for an attorney on naca.net.
I am also concerned about the other content on the message. Generally, they should not be able to say that they have a message for "cleoandminhsmom" and that you need to call them back. They may have violated 3rd party disclosure laws, too. Get legal advise ASAP.

The mention me by name, and say they have a legal document with my name on it...I did call them once, and found out that it is indeed a PDL, and of course, they nearly tripled its original amount. The PDL debt consolidation firm I'm using, told me, that they had cases where these people, would call, and the person would be so freaked, they'd pay up, then a week later the same people would call again and demand ANOTHER full payment....when they'd be told, 'no I paid you in full' these people say, "no that was just the first payment, you owe more now"....unbelieveable! Almost sounds like a scam...if you pay them you'd almost have to wonder if the original debt would be paid at all....

There are a few ways you can get the message transferred off the machine. One way I've used is to use my digital camcorder to simply make a movie of the answering machine while the message is playing back. :-) These days, even very basic point-and-shoot digital cameras will let you do this, and they're not expensive at all. If you don't have your own or can't afford one, you can probably borrow one from someone.

Regardless, though, I'd recommend you leave the message on the machine even if you do get it transferred to another medium. If worst comes to worst, I suspect that having it on the machine itself will be considered stronger evidence in court than a reproduction of any kind. (I am not a lawyer, and this is not legal advice.)
