I got a dunning letter from this law firm saying they represent Fortis Capital the owner of a former cc of mine. They wanted me to pay $3500 by Dec 3rd. I wrote them a letter back telling them I couldn't pay that amount all at once and could I make payment arrangements for $75 a month. They finally wrote back and said they were authorized to accept payments of $180 starting on the 20th of this month. I don't know what to do now, they is no way I can pay $180 a month, I could maybe swing it this month but I don't want to get into a situation where I know I can't afford it. Should I write them back requesting a lower amount? The amount they want is more than double my first offer. Or should I just do nothing and wait and see if they want to take it further or just sell it off again? Has anybody heard of this law frim or worked with them before?

Gurstel, etal is located in Minneapolis, MN. and they are debt buyers from various cc companies for pennies on the dollar. I'm kinda in the same position as you but they have started a law suit with me. I'd like to offer you advice but I'm not the one from whom to take advice. I suggest you call your local Legal Aid service...they usually are very knowledgeable.

Good luck!
