iag collection agency
Obviously, this collection agency is trying to collect on an illegal payday loan. Send them a cease and desist letter via certified mail and contact the original lender directly to make arrangement for payment. Since payday lending is illegal in NJ, you don't owe more than the borrowed amount to the lender even.
iag collection agency
Yes, as payday loan is prohibited in New Jersey, you owe them nothing else other than the principal amount. If they continue their collection practices even after sending C & D letter, file a complaint with the FTC along with the State AG.

iag collection agency licensed in what states
hi
i had no idea it payday loans were illegal in nj. iag contacted me stating that i would be served papers and possibly be placed under arrest for non payment of loan. the charges would be for bad check and intent to attempt to defraud a lending company. my loan was for 730 and they had me pay them 1300+ dollars. of course i didnt have that so i borrowed it from a coworker which is now going to be deducted from my paychecks. its been 3 days since all this and they still have not removed the funds. i feel very hoodwinked after reading these posts.
i have to other loans that i have not been able to pay back. is there anyone who knows if i am protected to not pay them back since it is illegal in nj? In what other states are they illegal?
please reach me at "greeneyebutafly@aim.com"
thanks for your help

I receive a call from a "process server" who told me to call IAG to make arrangemnts or be served witht he suit. I taked to Mike Jacobs, Tony Bello, Mark Roberts, Richard Goldman... all of whom kept threatening a suit and procesution for "defrauding a financial instution". I spoke to a friend of mine who is an attorney who told me they are obligated to send me the proof I requested. But they are saying they are not. I called the company they said I got the loan from and they have no record of me... I called the bank they said the money was put itno, but they said it's been so long that there is no way to know if there was an account in my name because it would have been purged from the system already. I even pulled my credit report to check to see if there was anythign there. I forwarded the info to my friend the attorney and he is going to contact them. I almost paid them too, just to get the rid of them... but damn... something just didnt sit right with it.

I received a called from a Mr Bowers who called me and stated I had an outstanding bill for a doctor's office for $165.00. He left a message and stated that they were going to sue me and bring charges against me for fraud. How can you bring charges against someone for a medical bill and consider it fraud. If you are sick, you are sick. I told him to take that bill and his suite and get back with me.

I just got a call also and I called PDLY that was suggested. They advised that they do all their collections in house and to not agree to any terms with this company. This is a scam as I did not owe any money. I almost paid them $1000 because they scared me so! fortunately you all posted and saved me some heart ache!!!
iag collection agency
IAG is a real debt collection agency but they use scare tactics to get you to pay which is illegal in every state. they scared me so bad i borrowed $800.00 to pay off a pay day loan. i would have never known what they were doing was illegal until a friend told me how they use scare tactics he is also a debt collector. he said most debt agencies have a certain amount of time to collect the debt & they will say anything to get you to pay. i checked into iag & found out they are authentic but the methods they use to get you to pay are illegal.
iag collection agency licensed in what states
well just because they exist means nothing.i have looked far and wide and found no license for this bottomfeeder.hmmm you think maybe that's why they break the law(yes break the law)with their tactics?i would say yes to that. By thee way where are they licensed to operate?
iag collection agency
I am receiving collections calls from IAG concerning a payday loan they said I took out in 2007. I asked for verification by fax and never received anything. Now they are telling me that I will be served papers for court if I don't pay. I know I never had a payday loan in the amount they are trying to make me pay. What do I need to do?
Received Call From Chris
Hi there,
I received a phone message today saying that I was going to be served at home tomorrow, and if I wasn't home they were going to "swing by my work". I had no idea what this could possibly be regarding. They left a phone number and case number.
I called back and spoke to someone named Chris. He clearly didn't know what he was talking about. He tried to intimidate me by saying I was in "trouble on a number of different counts", said that I had committed check fraud (uh, no I hadn't), that I had "obviously been bounced around several credit collection agencies", and that I could "take care of it right away". I replied: "Actually, I haven't been bounced around anywhere. This isn't on my credit report. Also, what is this in regards to? I need paperwork sent to me for whatever it is you're claiming. If I owe money, I'm happy to pay it".
Anyhow, after this, the guy said he'd send me an email verifying that I owed the debt. I responded "No, what I'd need is proof of the debt....a paper trail of records...not just an email saying I owe you money". He then said that I could only get this with a subpoena. This is when I knew that this guy was sketchy. I'm familiar with the FDCPA ("http://www.ftc.gov/bcp/edu/pubs/consumer/credit/cre27.pdf") , and you certainly don't need to subpoena to have a debt verified. Then, and I don't know why, I said "Aren't Payday Loans illegal in NY anyhow?". The guy then said something lame like "Not check loans--those aren't illegal". And then he said "Well, it's too bad you don't want to resolve this. Best of luck." Then he hung up on me! It was baffling. I tried to call him back, and he literally picked up the phone and hung up on me as soon as I was connected. I was totally calm the whole time I talked to him, and I seemed to throw him off by knowing what I was talking about and not giving in to his totally wacko scare tactics.
Thus, I'm obviously not afraid of being served. I should have really known better, as I haven't received any notices in the mail, and have a general knowledge of the way the law works. It's just very alarming to get that kind of message, and if you don't stop and take a moment, you can be tricked.
I notified a Debt Collection lawyer. The thing is: by saying you could be arrested, that you committed "fraud", these people are VIOLATING the Fair Debt Collection Practices Act. They can be sued quite easily in Federal Court. You can usually find a lawyer that will be willing to take your case. The minimum damages for these types of cases are usually $1000 + lawyers fees. Also, the more that people stand up for their rights, the sooner people like this will be shut down. If you experienced anything like this, reach out to a debt collection lawyer. There are people out there that want to shut down these very shady operations.

How did you find out they were legit?. I have a payment arrangement with them but I'm skeptical about keeping that agreement. I've called the numbers I have of them but a weird dial tone comes on and then phone screen says "Call Rejected". I was told they were going to serve me with papers if I didn't pay the debt off. I owe the debt but I don't know if they are a legal debt collector. Thay will not furnish nothing in writing to me that they are the agency in charge of my debt now. Should I stop the payment agreement?.

If IAG Collection Agency has a license to operate in your state, then they will be considered as legal. You should contact your original creditor and check out if they have sent the account to collections. If yes, then you should negotiate with the creditor and ask them to withdraw the account from collections. You can directly set up a repayment plan with the creditor and pay off the dues.

first off this place is not legit at all.secondly you can stop the payment by cancelling the method.either report your debit card lost,or your cc lost.get a new one and do not give it to this bottomfeeder.btw this place seems to collect only illegal internet loans so again they are not legit and should be reported not paid.
Follow-Up
As a follow up to my posting:
1) I spoke with my attorney. He said that people like this are just flat-out crooks. He said that we couldn't even go after them most likely, because they're extremely hard to track down. They change phone numbers often and don't have a legitimate business that is registered. He said to not pick up, continue to keep voice recordings if they leave messages, and if there's anything further that happens, to let him know.
2) I spoke with the New York district attorney's office, Buffalo branch. Since this IAG is claiming to do business in Amherst, this is the office. Same thing. The person at the DA's office said immediately: these people are scammers. She instructed me to NEVER give them information. Never VERIFY information--she actually said to just hang up on them.
3) And, of course..OF COURSE I wasn't "served" at my office or home. This was just a very foolish threat. Sure, maybe they scare people that have defaulted on loans...but even if you did default on a loan, people wouldn't call and harass you. They'd actually sue you. (And if you're sued..you usually get something certified in the mail from court..you're not usually served in person).
Don't give these people the time of day. Hang up on them. Report the abuse to the DA's office. If you continue to be harassed--sue them in Federal Court.
Good luck!

Thank you so much for these posts! I was contacted by this agency right before christmas and was told they would be serving me papers today. Although I was home all day, no-one ever showed up -- although the same person DID call (from a local number), which I let go to voice mail. The caller said he needed me to be home at a certain time, have a valid ID AND a witness available. I recently witnessed a car robbery, so had thought this might be concerning that -- I am so glad I researched a little further and came across this site.
Thank you all -- I will most definitely be sending a "cease and desist" letter -- and follow-up with an attorney if necessary!

I live in FL and sent IAG a certified letter to the PO box but the post office told me that they never picked it up and it was returned to me after 4 days, what can I do? They called me and said that I am going to be sued for check fraud. I originally took a cash supply loan for $1000 and already paid $1100 to IAG but they want another $1500, what should I do?

See, your only obligation is to repay the principal amount if the lender is not licensed to operate in your state. I have some information on how you should deal with illegal Payday lenders.
You may also register an FTC complaint if they're constantly threatening you. Please go through the following website - https://www.ftccomplaintassistant.gov/

I live in Texas and I got a call from IAG and case number, but I don't know what it is for. They just told me over the phone that I was getting sued.. What does this mean and I can not find who they are?

the reason they told you that is because they bottomfeeding scum that need over the top threats to extort money from people.they got your info from either.
1)an online pdl that was most likely illegal.
2)applying for an online pdl.
either way since you are in TX there are alot of ways criminals like this can't,and won't take any action against you.the reasons.
1)they need to post a bond to be able to collect on you.being as they have no license they don't have the bond.which is about 10,000.00
2)they would have to sue in your town, county, village,or bourough.
here is what you do.file a police report for the call as IAG broke the law with their call.then use either the name IAG,or any number you have to file AG,AND FTC complaints.then do not talk to them further.they want someone to argue with, and threaten.don't give it to them.

IAG are a bunch of theives!! Don't give them a dime.
IAG is a bogus company. I am in Texas and I got calls and threats from them saying they were serving me with court papers if I didn't pay right then. I almost paid then got suspicious and decided to check them out. Couldn't find anything online about them other than these forums. Then a guy called from a local number saying he was going to serve me the papers at work. I then googled the number he called from and it was a pay phone outside of a Food Mart. When he called back the next day I said "oh so you're at the Food Mart again". He hung up so fast and I've never heard anything from them again. I think they are a bunch of crooks who some how got info on payday loan debts and if you pay you are just paying a bunch of theives. If you get a call from them tell them to take a hike!!
They are Theives
Please read my other post. These guys are bogus. Google the numbers they call from. I bet one of them, if it's local is a pay phone.
Mark Bowers, IAG - International Asset Group
Debt collectors cannot claim you are committing fraud or anything else other than the actual debt owed. sue them if they do. Mark Bowers and IAG are nothing but fraud, themselves.

This group is bogus. You have the right to know their physical address and who you owe money to. My daughter paid her pay day loan which was marked a zero balance these clowns threatened her before she called the place that she supposedly owed money and scammed her out of 300.00. When she called the place that she supposedly owed money they never heard of IAG. Do not send them money this is a racket .
Iag can KMA kiss my bottom
These derelict losers called telling me I'd be summoned to court for an unpaid debt. Initially I was compliant with their requests. A-hole told me from an unpaid 500 pdl I'd have to pay 1287.00. I told them I'd pay 500, and they were accepting of if. Which struck me as shady! I requested a hole send me an email confirming they are a legitimate lawfirm seeking to collect debt. Still waiting for it! I'm not paying them squat! Any debt paid will be paid to pdl. Thankfully I googled iag and read this helpful forum and their disgusting douche bag tactics the next person to call me is going to get an earful. EFF them!!!

IAG was able to fool me into paying $599.00 for which they said if I did not I would be served with papers sueing me for $3500 for defrauding a financial instution. They said that the process server was in town and would show up to my job within the hour if I did not attend to this right away, which scared the you know what out of me. I live paycheck to paycheck and deffinatly could not afford that but I was willing "put off" other bills to pay the $599 vs the $3500 they said that I would have to pay. I sure do wish that I would have checked into this futher prior to agreeing to this. I just wish there was something I could do as far as getting my money back.

I have been getting calls from IAG and when I asked for them to sendme proof of debt was told they didnt have to as they will verify over the phone. I asked for their address and was told they didnt have one...I called back to tell them my attorney wanted their info and was told that within 15 min my account was sold. 15 min earlier they were tellingme I was goingto be servedby the process server... Now they are faxing a piece of paper to my work that they need to fill out with my info and to check a box if I refuse...They didnt send it to human resourses just a fax number in my department. SCAMMERS...

I dealt with IAG for a few weeks recently. They attempted to say I was going to be sued. I asked them to validate the debt. They sent me a letter in the mail that was not a validation of debt. I sent a written request for a validation of debt and have yet to hear anything back.
At first, they refused to send any sort of validation of debt and made it seem like I was about to be served. They had a "process server" call. I reported them to the FTC.
The other day I received an email from the NY Attorney General Consumer Fraud department asking for proof they are breaking the law. I have voicemails and letters they sent me and a letter threatening my employer. Has anyone else had the attorney general of NY email them like this? (I don't live in NY and didn't report it to NY) I'm slightly cautious because the woman I dealt with at IAG is named Kathy Davis (or Douglas if you call her office and get her voicemail) and the woman requesting this information is Karen Davis with a similar raspy voice.
yeah i have heard of it
NY AG cuomo takes his duties seriously.if a bottomfeeder, lawbreaking collector,or rent-a-lawyer is in his state he wants your info to better help his offiice put a stop to this.he will act on your info so please provide it to him.IAG is scum personified and he will deal with them.however you give the info to the real AG.it does sound like IAG is sending phony emails.forward that one first to mr cuomo then proceed, but yes the NY AG has requested info from people who do not live in NY.here is what you do for now.check the number on the email.check the NY AG website.if the numbers match proceed.if it seems suspicious you forward the email,or print it out and send it to the NY AG.
