Hi there - I have 4 American Express cards and they have just been sent to CAs. 1 account has been assigned to Zwicker, 2 accounts to Nationwide Credit and the last one to AEGIS. Nationwide sent a very nice letter to me that they could get me to 0% interest rate, AEGIS advised that they could work out arrangements and Zwicker was kind of vague with their letter. I haven't spoken to any of them yet but need to soon to get these debts settled (or make arrangements). Does anyone have any advice who I should contact first? Which agency is best to start with and which ones are horrifying (as I will need to take a medicine before I call any of them)? Thanks, Alex

Hello;
My account (AmEx) was sent to Zwicker before it was 120 days past due. They do not play around, and they have attorneys in almost every state. They will definitely want to come to a settlement agreement with you, but my advice would be to not expect anything lower than 50% at best. Try to deal with them at the very end of the month and you may not have to fight as hard for it. Do not take their threats lightly...they will sue you if you can't come to an agreement.
