I paid a collection debt with Palisades a several years ago, being young and naive at 21, I was threaten by them, so I paid them. Est amount of $400.

Still being young, but not naive anymore I am 27 and trying to get this account off my credit report. It does not belong to me and I want to dispute it. I have been disputing this transaction for months and transunion does not want to remove this item from my account.

I was wondering if anyone knew of any techniques that I could use: such as, write a letter or the phone no. to call Palisades Collection, so I can write or talk to them about removing this collection item off my credit report.

Sincerely,
AP

What is the date of first default on the account? That would be when you missed your first payment with the original creditor and never again brought the account current. You paid it off 6 years ago and it was already in collections so I can't believe that it should remain on there for very much longer. Federal reporting time is maximum of 7.5 years from the DOFD. Call the CRA's and ask what the DOFD as reported by the data furnisher.

The date that I am showing on my default is 2005. Which is interesting because I paid it a while back. Any advice?
