As per the FDCPA, the creditor needs to send you a DV notice within 5 days of initial communication if they called you up over phone, before they start the debt collection process. In the meanwhile, I think that you should pull out your credit report and check whether Progressive Financial is there in your report against any debt. If you find them in your report, send them a debt validation letter by certified mail.

Email isn't a good way to request or change information. Put everything in writting and keep copies.
