I've noticed on my credit report, that on the original creditor account, there's a recent payment for $xx made to the account, it doesn't show the date. I did not make any payment! I'm sure it was the CA trying to re-age the account!!

I have a letter ready to be sent to the credit bureau disputing this strange "recent payment", but I hesitated because both accounts (CA & OC) are estimated to be removed from my report on 5/08.

Is it possible for the CA to make an illegal payment onto my account just to re-age it and keep on my credit for longer?

What should I do?

Thanks in advance for your advice!

that would be re-aging.it usually is done on
debts past the SOL.sounds like they just did
a false entry.you can dispute it with the
credit reporting agencies.

Re-aging a debt is certainly possible, and, in your case, probable. Send the CA a demand for validation, immediately. This template makes into a real good one: http://www.debtconsolidationcare.com/collection-agencies/better-structure.html

I might also demand that they prove that the payment in question had actually been made. Check number, card transaction details, etc. My reasoning: If they were to say it was your check # whatever, you could then run down your actual check and prove that it was actually for your rent last year, or whatever.

thanks unclewulf!

i have actually sent my second DV letter A FEW DAYS AGO, the first one the CA did not provide proper validation.

today i'm sending a dispute letter to the credit bureau so they can verify. it should be easy since i have not made any payment.
