Since January I have been sending certified mail return receipts letter to two collection agencies reporting on my files;
they both ignore me.
the first reports for 158$ for I have no idea what.
the second one reports for a $18 debt to Bank of America. It was for a closed account fee I was not aware of until I moved back to the US last year and I paid it off immediately. I have the receipt, and have mailed them a copy of that as well.
For 8 months both these CAs ignore me so today I sent them each a Notice of intent to sue.

I just don't know where to start the suit. please help direct me how to deal with this further, what to sue for, what to expect, what to do...

Thank you, 'help appreciated.

thank for your time soaplady.
for both I asked debt validation several times by cmrr mail.
the first one I have no idea what it is for.
the second one the original debt was 18$ which I paid of March last year. Then it showed up on my credit report in July with balance of 138$, I imagine attorney fees or something....

what to do next? they just ignore me form January and keep reporting. pls advise:)
appreciated
thx

I paid it off to the original creditor BofA and have the receipt to show it.

There are great consumer law attorneys who sue debt collectors every day on behalf of consumers - try the National Association of Consumer Advocates (NACA.net) website. Then you can find an attorney in your state. Please speak to a lawyer- most do not charge up front but take advantage of the FDCPA's 'fee shifting' provision which says a cosumer who wins gets his attorney's fees and costs paid for. NACA is a non-profit.
