I received two letters from The Law Office of Anthony H. Rodriques regarding my two Bank of America accounts.

The two letters came in the regular mail, I didn't have to sign for them. The letters basically state that they took over the accounts and want payment for both.

It states that I have 30 days to dispute the validity of this debt, and if I fail to do so they will obtain a judgement against me. It also states that at this time, no attorney with this firm has personally reviewed the circumstances of either account.

I also recieved at work a fax that was left on my desk stating that it was a verification of employment. I am wondering if I should sign it and fax it back showing refused.

I've heard bad things about these collectors. Any ideas or suggestions?

Ok, to be clear, I received two letters from Frederick J. Hanna regarding two accounts with B of A and a fax was sent to my work from Anthony H. Rodriques regarding verification of employement. I didn't respond to the fax, I just sent letters to both firms requiring a validation of the debt by certified mail.

I know one of them, Anthony H. Rodriques called my sister and said they were a law frim, gave her a file number, and told her to tell me to have them call them.

I've seen so much bad stuff written about both firms that I haven't bothered to contact them.

If you are a Texas resident, Before you do ANYTHING go to the Texas Secretary of State Website and click on the link and then clic on the debt collector bond website and enter the firm name. Any 3rd party collector trying to collect a debt in Texas is required to have a $10,000 surety bond to legally collect on a debt. If They don't Hire an FDCPA attorney (They usually do a suit with no out of pocket to you) because they are BREAKING THE LAW collecting
