I received a call from this Mel Clark guy today telling me that I committed check fraud over a payday loan that I took out 4-5 years ago. He said I was ignoring all letters sent to an address, and after I informed him that I haven't lived there in years to please send it to me, he said it was too late.
He told me that if I didn't pay the balance today, he would contact the Sheriff and have me taken to jail from work by Wed.
I said What should I do, I don't have that kind of money that quick, and his advice was contact some family members to borrow money and contact a bailbondsman in advance so that I wouldn't have to do it from jail.
After reading some things on the internet, I called back and told him that I checked into legal counseling and found out that he was harassing me and that it was against the law, he told me I don't care if you called pepboys or goodyear, if they don't work with me than they don't know if it's illegal or not what he's doing.
I informed him that by me defaulting on a payday loan, I may have a civil matter against me, not a criminal one, and again to please resubmit the bill/paperwork to me. He then asked if I called him back to pay him RIGHT now, and when I answered no, I can't, he hung up on me!
How the hell do I handle this now?????

You can't be put to jail for defaulting on a pdl.
Which state? Who was your lenders? I am guessing it was an internet lender, right?
