United Nations Legal Department – How they scam consumers
Date: Mon, 11/10/2008 - 08:41
This person calls me every morning, anywhere from 3-7 times in immediate succession, BEFORE 8 AM. I can only assume this is for past due PDLs, because I did default on a couple, but I have not called them back.
Where do I file a complaint regarding this company? This is definitely harassment.

I have been getting the same phone calls! What can be done about these people. It interupting at work to keep getting these phone calls. There is no such place as the united national Law department. I am sick of this and I cannot find a federal agency that will do anything about it.

I lost out on a lot of money and still getting calls in. I found out when it was to late this was a fraud. Trying to build a case in the US attorneys office. This guy said his name is Griffin Bell and his number is 806-496-2650.

I too have received harrasing phone calls from the United Nation Legal Deparment. This doesn't exisit. It's a scam I was threated with "if you don't settle out of court, I will send my officer to arrest you" first of all I need to be served. Second of all they are from India. I haved filed a complaint with the FTC and after doing some research, they don't exist. Don't give them ANY information. I told them to send their guys and alereted my security personnel. To this day, I have not been arrested. Don't fall prey to this scam. I will also be filing a police report here in Las Vegas. I don't owe the money just ignore the phone calls
OMG!!! This same "company" has repeatedly harrassed me as well.
OMG!!! This same "company" has repeatedly harrassed me as well. They constantly call my home, cell phone, and even work. They always sign off with the same message "best of luck to you as this situation unfolds upon you."It is beginning to really terrify me as they have recited to me, my SS number, home address, and checking account number. The call come from a few individuals who seem to never remember their name and usually refuse to disclose who they are calling for. They just say it is a legal matter, I will be arrested etc. They all have a very heavy accent.I have contacted my local authorities, filed a report and I am waiting to hear back. Does anyone know what these people really want??? I would also reccomend to call the credit agencies tp report fraud on your SS card..

I got this a few times last week. The guy said he is Officer Thomas Jones of the justice department. First off if you are from the justice department you would not have a heavy Indian accent. I asked him where he is from he said Washington, DC. I said I have to go im at work and I would have my lawyer call them back. At this time the guy asked me what time it is. I said well you should know your in DC. That got him quiet for a couple minutes. I also mentioned I'm in college for my BA in Homeland Security again he got quiet. Just yesterday they passed my number onto a different number this time an Indian lady called I never picked up. This one said shes from the united nations law office. She also called my best friend and said the same thing.
I have been called from them. First he was an attorney and wante
I have been called from them. First he was an attorney and wanted my attorneys phone number. I told him no attorney makes calls himself. Then he called back and told me he was from the FBI. To which I called him some not nice words.Third call he was rude and said since I don't want to talk to him he is not going to help me settle the law suit against me which has been filed in a New York City Court. Now he has called twice telling me he is John Smith with United Nations Legal Department. Yes he also knows the last 4 of my social secrity number but it is the same voice each time. Wow does he have this many multiple personalites? And how many different phone numbers does he have. He needs to get a clue that we are on to them and as Americans we will not stand for this. Find another country to try and scam.

I keep getting calls from various individuals too. Theare different phone numbers involved. One of them is a cell phone. That humber is: 576-717-1614. The other number is: 347-618-0664. They are men with very thick accents. The call my place of work and threaten my co-workers with subpeonas. Is there any way to stop these harrassing phone calls?
I too have been getting harrassing phone calls from these jerks
I too have been getting harrassing phone calls from these jerks at my work and my cell. They keep avoiding giving me the company's name or any pertinent information. They say that I accepted a payday loan and did not pay them back. The guy has a heavy Indian accent and identified himself at Officer Martin Jordan and provided a case number and said this case is filed with the State County Court of New York City. He went on to rattle off my Social security number, bank account and mailing address. Then added that they judge may seek up to $3,478 from me but that by paying them $729 should stop the process. I am really disgusted that I and all the other people that I am reading about on this site are being harrassed and scammed out of money by these crooks and am appalled that nothing seems to be able to be done to stop them. How can they get away with this?
I will be filing a police report and any other complaint that I
I will be filing a police report and any other complaint that I can to get them off my back.
Scam
Do not call them back it is a scam to get you to give them your financial info e.g. credit card number debit card etc. They claim you have to pay right away or be arrested. Simply add the number to your phone carrier's block list both cell and home then they can't call you.
I have gotten MANY MANY MANY calls from these people. The first
I have gotten MANY MANY MANY calls from these people. The first "company" is "The Legal Department" and the man identifies himself as "David Jones". I never knew a David Jones with such a THICK accent. The number he called from is (917) 382-7169. I looked up the phone # and it is a cell phone in New York. This man calls me 4 times consistently in a row, threatens to sue, and press charges for a payday loan. The other person that calls (which she just started calling today) is Amy Gibson, again thick accent. Calling from (214) 446-5369...an unpublished #. First, any legalized business will have a PUBLISHED phone #. Second when I asked for the information about the alleged suit filed against me...she gave me only the year that the payday loan was for....and from the same payday loan company the other guy was calling about. Only, she said she is calling from the law offices of Baker and McKenzie. She had my last four of my social, my year of the payday loan (no month), and an email address that I just created in January 2011. The bank she stated I had a payday loan deposited into was a prepaid credit card bank that, one....payday loans are not deposited into, and that I had gotten in late 2010. She kept insisting she will send the sherriff to my home and "take me to the court house" and that if the situation is not resolved within one hour, I could be facing a big legal mess...and fined up to $18,000. When I asked for more information about the suit and her company, she just kept telling me that she has "proof" of the internet use to get a payday loan, and that she had over 17 logged pieces of "proof". PHOOEY!!! Im smarter than that. So these people are definitely scammers. I am contacting my local fraud and scam department. I can see how they could "fool" a person who is afraid of legal terminology and uneducated on consumer rights. I suggest anyone facing these calls...get educated on consumer rights.... The law prohibits any collection agents to contact you before a certain hour, and after a certain hour. I've gotten calls at 9pm and 10pm before. DO NOT GIVE ANY MORE INFORMATION TO THEM!!! And make sure you sign up for an "Identity Theft" protection from any of the major credit bureaus.
This same thing is happening to me!! I ended up flipping out on
This same thing is happening to me!! I ended up flipping out on the guy. He told me I got the loan in January of 2010 and gave me all of my banking information. Bad luck for him, I didn't get that account until 7 months later!! Idiots. I really wish there's a way to stop it because they've called me at work and spoken to my boss. They also call repeatedly about 7 times in a row every morning and evening. It's getting increasingly frustating!
United Nations Legal Department FRAUD
I filed a complaint with FTC and also called the Credit Report to secure a fraud alert on my account. I was advised to call the local Police and inform them of these people. They sound like a bunch of Indians with heavy indian accents, saying I have a case filed against me for unpaid interest. When I delved further asking about who filed the complaint - they gave me the name of a legit company and when I looked them up to see what was really going on - I was told by the manager that nothing on me was existent on their records! She then suggested that I leave a complaint with their Compliance department with the entire info. I called and did as such. This is absolutely infuriating. Also, lock down your bank account and get a new account set up. Defend yourself with all the preventative measures you can utilize.

I want thank you all for your input this guy is threatening me to send out a team of investigators and to arrest me at my home or work.. its always a differant number and I've looked up two of them one was from new york and the other was california.
scammers
Be on the alert....check all bank accounts, credit cards, etc. etc., every day. I"m getting the same phone calls. I have called our local TV station, and tonight I notified the police because they said they would send local officials to my house and this time they gave me my entire SS number.

I received a call from a very similar number, and he said his name was MAC WHITE.
I'm working with a local TV reporter and the police department.
I'm working with a local TV reporter and the police department. This seems to be a "Legit" debt collection agency with an F rating from the BBB. All of their tactics are ILLEGAL, and we are working hard to see how to stop it. DON'T CALL THE NUMBERS BACK; CALL THE POLICE.

I have been advised to file a complaint with the FTC, which I have done. Everyone needs to do this because this company's practices are ILLEGAL.

I have gotten the same calls. One person is a Brandon Sheriff. This guy just wanted to talk. Got all my information and he just wants to talk. He finally stopped calling me. Now I am getting a Alex Parker calling me from a 646-499-5911. Saying he is from United nation Legal Dept and is the head lawyer representing Cash Network... I have taken out PDL's in the past and paid them. I did have a couple that I ended up not paying but the actual company I owed the money too called me and we worked out a payment arrangement.
Dont send these idiots money. I told them that I already spoke with Cash Network and that they told me they do not know how they got my information and that they are a scam. They directed me to their division for these types of things and I left a message. I also emailed them telling them as well. Another person that called was a Brandon Brown. Same phone number. They tell me to go to the Superior Court in California to pick up my paperwork on my case file.
They are a scam, dont do anything. Ask for the company name they are representing and google the name. Call the company directly. Dont get nasty with them on the phone, it just adds fuel to the fire with them. Eventually the phone calls will stop. They have threaten to speak with my supervisor. I told them they already know about the phone calls and know its a scam. I even had my security dept talk with them on the phone.
They do have all my information - I put a hold on my credit. No one can access anything with my credit without it going through me. I called the credit bureaus and they set it up.
Good Luck to everyone. Stay away from PDL's - they are not worth the aggravation.

I receive call's from these dummies who claim they are from United Nations Legal, they called me at work and I was trying to get as much information from them as possible then I told the guy whose name was Daniel Brown that the call is being recorded and I know it's a scam. I told t hem I had also reported them to the BBB and the FTC then he called me a B and said he was going to put his penis in my butt, then he put me on speaker phone and a group of guys just started yelling my name and calling me all kinds of B's. I went to my local police and filed a complaint but I hope someone get these people and handle them well.
Scam artists
I also have received calls from Jack Williams, just to name one. It was about defaulting on a PDL. So I called the company they said that I defaulted with and he assured me I owed him no money and that the call was most definitely a scam. I was almost going to pay them. I get constantly harrassed too. To the point of it making me physically sick. I am going to call the PDL I spoke with today to give them all the information on this guy. Also be aware of Officer Tony Mark Anderson and Andy Hoffman. I don't know how to stop it but I will. This activity should be illegal. And another thing, the man at the PDL told me that these are unsecured loans and the liklihood that you would be taken to court is small. We need to stop this insanity. We need to fight back somehow. There's got to be a way to report this kind of harrassment.
I got a call not too long ago from Officer Alex King saying the
I got a call not too long ago from Officer Alex King saying the same thing, I apparently I owe $216 to some loan company, which I never received a loan in the first place.. I thought it was a scam but wasn't sure till I read this.. I received 7 calls so far... The guy said that his job is on the line if I don't fax him my information. I don't think I'll be faxing him anything. Thanks for warning me.

I get calls from Alex Rodrick and Marc Spencer they say they are from United Nations Legal Department.Bad accents with american names. The number they call on is from New York 646 367 9833, but if you call them back from a blocked number they wont pick up.Also last week the guy Alex told me to fax him my credit card info, the number he gave me was seattle. I didnt send it but called him back and asked him to check his fax machine he told he was and there was nothing there not sure how Seattle and New York got so close lol Today he said if i didnt call back in a hour be ready with my lawyer i asked him were to be ready and he hung up.
They're lying
If they call you claiming to be Brandon Brown, the attorney in California, they're lying. The only Brandon Brown registered with the California bar is a young intellectual property litigator with a big law firm (http://www.kirkland.com/sitecontent.cfm?contentID=220&itemID=9754).
He's a nice guy from upstate NY -- definitely no accent. I spoke with him today and he confirmed he doesn't work for the "United Nations Legal Department."
scams
I have gotten these calls before about 6 months ago and when I started questioning and asking questions of this guy named Jason he hung up and never called again until May 12 and 13th. When a mutual friend who is a police office called the number from the police department number so it would show up on their caller ID this person Jason claimed to be a police office also. He then used the F..... word and now our police station here is filing a complaint against these so called people that say they are from the American Legal services and all the numbers are originating from New York Cell phones and now they are using the United Nations Legal Department and it is the same person. Hmm. These people just scam artist's that are too lazy to go out and get a real job and actually use their brain for something other than trying to screw me out of whatever they can get. Also my phone service has the capability for voice mail to text to be sent to my email which I have subscribed to so with this case that is being built against them with the recording the police have already gotten, they will also have the written proof. If everyone works together we can get these scammers where it hurts the worst, which is in their wallets. PS. you can also change your number to an unlisted one too. And for anyone else who feels the way all of us that these people are trying to scam lets shut down their pipeline for good.
Frauds!!!!
This just happened to me today! They left 2 voicemails at my place of employment stating to call them regarding an urgent matter. He left the name of Mike Johnson. To call them back. I did and then I was talking to "Attorney Frank Murphy". He said he was with the United Nations Legal Department as they are a government back office. He said that a lawsuit has been filed against my social security number (which they had) and that I fraudulently obtained funds and never paid them back. When I asked from where - he said he wasn't at liberty to say because the company has no interest in talking to me. I then asked well, if I owe someone money - I should certainly want to pay them. He then said to fax him a statement basically admitting that I did this along with my last four numbers of my social, a copy of my driver's license and my credit card information. I asked him for some paperwork and he said that due to this being an online loan and online fraud - there is no paperwork. He said I would get paperwork however; after I paid them. He also could do me the favor of letting me pay back in installments. HA! Of course I never faxed this to him. He then called back my place of employment and began to harrass my co-worker!! What am I supposed to do???
United Nations Legal department
This is totaly bs,THE UNITED NATIONS LEGAL DEPARTMENT WILL NEVER CONTACT AN ORDINARY CITIZEN.IT WILL BE REPRESENTATIVES OF COUNTERIES,NOT ITS CITIZENS.
Stop em in their tracks
If someone is bothering you via telephone call the telephone company and complain. If it continues call the police and make a report.
If they send you threats or inappropriate material in the mail then complain to the US Post Master. If it continues contact the the US Post Office Inspector General.
Whatever the source you can attack the root media they use to harass you.
At the very least "Google" your problem and but be careful of the source of the information.
I just received a phone call from the same exact number and they
I just received a phone call from the same exact number and they told me to send them the same information that they asked you to send in. I told them that I was unemployed and had no income coming in. He continued to ask me when can I make payments. After repeating myself several times I hung up. He called me back and told me that he will go ahead with the claim and the authorities would pick me up from my home or place of employement and he would see to it that I be locked up. I told him that is very unprofessional and hung up.
Major scam
I was just talking to a police friend of mine and he agrees with all you are saying. It is a scam, if and when it was true. They would have to give you all the info on your "case". That means who is sueing, where they are and all that fun stuff. "Alex" the Indian ( who I cant understand) is a fraud. Dont do crap peeps!!!
Please
I have received a very similar call, this time the name was Kevin Carter, saying that they have allegations against my name that needed to be resolved immedialetly. This was a red flag automatically, I have received a summons before and it was nothing like this. They DID NOT call me, first all, on the summons, they appeared at my house, when my mother said I wasn't there, the sheriff told her to tell me to give him a call so when can meet. I called him and he was polite as he could be, he told me what the summons was for and what I should do about it. Which brings me to my next point, when I received a call at my job from an Anthony Hopkins(the actor) I realized this was a scam. He said I had allegations on my name and he had my social to prove it, but he only gave me the last four digits of the number. When I asked him for more information he said he could not tell me anything but wanted to know whether I wanted to settle or take it to court, naturally I said I'm not giving you any info if you can't tell me why. So he persisted that I give him an answer or it would go to court and I would pay a lot more money if that happened. I told him no I'm not paying anything until I find out more information. When I question the fact that somebody was trying to fraud me he got very upset, to the point were he started cursing at me(a lawyer now). When we argued for about 20 minutes, and he found out that no information about me was coming out of my lips, and I kept telling him he wasn't being professional, he changed his attitude and said that this was a prank call for a radio station 901 and that I passed and I was gonna get 25 points on my creditscore....BULL, no lawyer in their right mind would ever say "this is a prank". No one trying to sue you is going to call you first because if the allegations were true why would you call me to tell me first, that leaves me time to get away. If anybody has these scam issues from these people, need to pay attention to the names they give you. How many lawyers you know are name after actors or former presidents, especially with a strong india accent? If they are from another country why do they have straight american names? It makes no sense....don't not fall for this because if someone is going to sue, as serious as court is, they would not make phone calls!!! And for anybody who needs personal information on the company, I called about 10 times before they gave me an address but what they gave me was 2018 Broadrigde Ave new york, ny 10801. My next step is checking this address....I will get to bottom of this scam
what money did you lose out on
I really don't understand why so many of you people are so DUMB to fill out every tom, dick, and harry application online.
You get some e-mail from where ever and you reply to it with information they want. Also filling out for contests / sweepstakes
online or in person locally is a BAD thing to do ! If you receive an e-mail that you don't recognize.
I strongly suggest any of you to stop responding to online offers.
Don't use facebook or other online similar social networks.
Scammers troll / search online community sites such as them.
Scammers get information from those sites and target you.
Scammers might get a small piece of info on you from one site.
Another small piece of info from another site.
Another moral of the story is--- DO NOT give any personal info online. DELETE any e-mails you don't recognize !
Answer
http://www.ftc.gov/bcp/edu/microsites/donotcall/index.html ~ start here , reg your phone number - then file a complaint ~ SEND THEM NO MONEY & GIVE THEM NO INFO ABOUT YOUR BANK , THEY WILL WITHDRAW CASH VIA ELECTRONIC CHECK . I HAVE DEALT WITH THESE TURDS & IT'S NONSTOP ~ GO SO FAR AS TO ASK FOR THEM TO MAIL INFO ABOUT THE CASE TO YOUR HOME . DON'T GIVE THEM YOUR ADDRESS AS THEY SHOULD HAVE THAT INFO AS A COLLECTOR WOULD HAVE THAT ALREADY .
to the pinhead above me
so this is your new tact.telling people to stay off the internet.real nice zippy, however unless a catastrophic event happens and kills off the internet it's here to stay.so please save your rhetoric for other sites like GPL,and other sound off sites.we are here to inform, and give support.not idiotic ramble.last thing i do agree people should be careful on the net,but to say not to go on social networks,or sites like ours period is asinine.
Me too
OMG !! I have been getting this calls too.First guy was Neil and then I got one from Alex at united legal. He keeps calling my work. I dont have an outstanding pay day loan. The red flag was that he didnt know the name of the original company. I told him to email me the info and he wouldn't. He stated that once I pay them he will give me all the infor.I then looked them up on line and saw everyones comments-thank you !! When I called "alex " back he answered "hello".

I have received the same calls from various numbers. Today was the first time they left a message on my home phone. They said that I would be dragged to the courthouse, my social would be frozen, and my license would be tagged. And then ended with Good Luck! Anyway I called them back and they told me their name as United Nations Legal Dept. The number today was a San Diego # 619-704-9335. I asked for their physical address and they said for me to figure it out. I told them I was going to call the police, and they said go ahead. That is when I googled it and saw all of these same scenarios. I did have a payday loan with a legitimate company, but applied for others. I am sure that is how the info got out. I would suggest if you need a payday loan, go to one that is an actual office one. That is what I did. Boy am I glad!

I get several calls a day from these people as well. They are all frauds. Do not let them upset you or get to you. I have made several reports to the FTC. The more you file against them and the different company names they use the more you put them out there. I just got 3 calls from 3 different people who all have the same noise going on in the background. Report them to your local police department also, they may not be able to do anything but it still helps

They catch them world wide, so these guys are not exempt from prosecution. They hate i when you call them back on a blocked number and ask them a lot of questions. These guys told me they were with the United Nation Office of Legal Affairs, so I asked for Patricia O'Brien. http://en.wikipedia.org/wiki/United_Nations_Office_of_Legal_Affairs
and called me from a 571-659-4810 number (Virginia), then said their offices where in New York. The person they are looking for does not live here. Guy said his name was Attorney James Murphy..... wasn't that the guy from Robocop?!!
They get all scary when you do the block number, return call thing. Start with... Who am I speaking with? And what is the name of your company? What is your website address? (LMAO, they didn't know what a website was!!) Give me your street address?
Sound real official. *67 to block your number.

I have received many calls from this number today...after looking up the number and reading what was posted, I decided to turn the tables on them. Up until a few minutes ago I have not answered any of their calls, I answered this first to last call with an I don't care attitude. They asked for me by name I said yes, but when it came to the SS# I only asked what company this was he told me he was with a Loan Investigation Company. I asked for the name again because there was no such company and he was a scam artist. He stated he was not a scam artist but with a law firm in New York. I asked for the name of the lawyer, he told be Griffin Bell. (Which I googled while on the phone, to find out that Mr. Bell past away in 2009). I told him that Mr. Bell was deceased and he hung up on me.
He called back 2 minutes later, stating he was going to file a lawsuit against me for calling him a scam artist along with the other legal issues I have. I asked again about Mr. Bell and he transferred me to his supervisor. We tried to confirm my SS#, which I proceed to ask what that has to do with the price of tea in china. He then proceeded to hang up on me, while writing this they called again but I did not answer (I am at work, early no one around, now to many to hear).
Glad I'm not the only one dealing with these people. My lastest
Glad I'm not the only one dealing with these people. My lastest number & "name" was 408-900-9758 from an Eddie Smith. When called back, it gives a recorded message saying that "the magic jack extension can not be reached at this time". Red flag #1... Magic Jack? From the UN? HAHAHA... don't think so.
And yes, they have the usual information (name, address, last 4 of SSN, and the bank name) but I don't think they have my actual account number. When I told him that I wasn't going to get a lawyer, go to court, or pay anyone anything, he just said "thank you" and hung up.... What jackasses.
United Nations Legal Department Scam
I just got off the phone with Attorney Jeff Morgan, heavy Indian accent who sounded just like Attorney Jack Gates, John Williams and John Smith who have been bombarding me with phone calls regarding a payday loan that I was supposed to have taken from Cash USA Payday. I have no recollection of taking any payday loans and asked them to fax me the document for validation. He totally ignored what I was saying and proceeded to inform me that he was going to send a letter to my bank ande my employers and place a negative remark on my credit report. He said he had sent 7 emails to my email address, which does not exist anymore, so I asked him to fax me a copy of one of the emails, he refused and said I should engage the services of a criminal lawyer and he would send him all the information that I requested. I told him no problem and that it was my intention to report him to the Attorney General at which time he hung up.
These people are in India but I am very curious to know if they are working for someone here in the USA

 to United Nations Legal Department . . . it's on . . . explitive that starts with a B
you are smarter than Jeff Morgan
i will list the facts i know and the lies jeff told me
JEFF told me i owed a company i never heard of money for a loan they had deposited into my bank acct
I did not recieve any loans and verified with my bank that no deposits (other than the regular) had been made the entire year
JEFF told me my routing number and the last four of my social. he told me my name my address and obviously had my phone number
I gave that information to a website that said it would search several loan companies to find me a loan. i now realize i should have never done that. if it sounds too good to be true ITS NOT.
JEFF said he was a lawyer and was going to file suit against me the following day if i did not pay back the loan.
a LAWYER will not call you and negotiate with you. they will send you paper. also you will hear something about it before it gets that far.
JEFF said he was with the United Nations Legal Dept. when i questioned jeff on if it was the united nations or that was the name of his company he wouldn't give me a straight answer so i asked him if he knew what the united nations was. he said yes so i said so are you with the united nations or is that the name of your company. finally he said the name of his company. i believe the name is a scare tactic. it sounds serious.
JEFF said he had an associate, Jeff Gates. I thought it was weird that an indian guy would be named jeff (with an accent. and i know there are americans who are indian who have american names but they don't have accents) and it was weird that their names were so . . . john smith ish.
JEFF called me at work . . .
when jeff called me at work he had some guy that was obviously not as fluent call as a "secretary" and ask for me. i was paged and my BOSS gave me the phone. the caller id said net teleco (i wrote it down but i forgot to get the number) he said his supervisor jeff wanted to speak to me. i said 'jeff wants to speak to me?! put jeff on!' in a cheerful tone. and then i heard the phone (as i did every other time i was "transfered" in our previous convos) passed to jeff. he said hello ms. (last name) i said hi jeff! then i got mad and said 'if you EVER call me again i will call the police. do you understand?' he started yammering but i cut him off and told him again and then i told him thank you goodbye jeff. he did not call my cell phone or my work again that day. today he called. i picked up the phone and said okay jeff i will call the police, thank you and hung up. usually if i did not answer he would call over and over and over or randomly all day. now ten hrs later and still no call from my buddy jeff.
MY FELLOW AMERICANS you are smarter than jeff morgan, bobby brown, mr bojangles or w/e they want to call themselves. they obviously do not have the education to get a job. and they don't have morals. they expect you to fall for it and send the money to make them go away. but they won't. they will keep calling and keep coming up with reasons you owe them. the $350 i "owed" went up to $646 from fees and interest ya da ya da. don't let anyone scare you. if they were going to sue us they would do it not call.
my plan is to play with jeff now. first i'm going to call him using a soundboard. look them up they are hilarious. fun to prank family and friends or in this case scam artists. second i'm looking up laws and the like to see if i can legally do anything to jeff and jeff :).
good luck my friends.
oh the number is 408.900.9758 blow it up!

if you scroll down on this page they have a section describing exactly the same thing that has happened to so many of us.
they have several recommendations as to what to do one of which is to report the activity to this website which is partnered with the FBI.
http://www.ic3.gov/default.aspx
and also to contact the police. i will def be reporting these ppl to the above website.
oh and i was going to call and harass him early in the morning but his phone went to voicemail immediately. i suspect they are using prepaid cell phones because i also did a reverse lookup at whitepages.com and yellowpages.com on the number.
Harrassed by United Nations Legal Dept
I have been harrassed for the past few months by these people as well. They refused to give me any info either until I paid them with a debit card. When I stopped answering their calls, they somehow got a telphone number of a family member whom I rarely speak to..non the less this family member called me concerned that "I was in so much trouble"! I received a call today my my human resource department today informing me that they have over the past few months been receiving calls from these people as well (I was not aware that they were calling my job) and was reminded by the HR girl that personal calls were not acceptable and in a nice way she told me I needed to put a stop to this. I am now afraid that I could and may loose my job if I don't stop these people from calling my job. What do I do?

As per the FDCPA laws, debt collectors are restricted from contacting a third party who does not owe money to the creditors. By third party, I mean the employers, neighbors and relatives of the debtor. You should contact them and can quote this rule and ask them to not contact your employers any further.
